A PHOTOGRAPHIC REVIEW FROM THE OLD TO THE NEW A contrast in time may be seen in these photographs as the Linden High School building stands majestically reminding everyone of the importance it has played as a learning institution while the new North Montgomery High School provides a contemporary view of a modern school still under construction. Behind us we leave the old red brick school building which has been our home away from home for many years. Although our building lacked the modern facilities of many of the newer schools, we are proud to have had the honor of being the last senior class to attend Linden High. We leave the old familiar hallways which we traveled daily to walk new hallways of the future. JEFFREY KEITH AIREY NEIL CLINTON BARCLAY EVERETT W. BARKER MARGARET (PEGGY) J. GRIMES R. DEBORAH GWIN The small school had its compensations. One of these was the senior trip. The senior year meant the final push to raise funds which climaxed four years of concentrated effort on the part of each class to make sure there was enough money on hand to send the entire senior class to Washington D.C. and New York City. Our drive began with a car wash in July. The annual senior chili supper was enjoyed by many and also netted a large profit for our class. During the latter part of November and continu- ing through December we turned Christmas card salesmen and walked the streets of Linden ringing the doorbells and rapping on doors to sell cards and Christmas wrapping paper. JAMES L. BARTLETT LINDSAY D. CASPER JON R. COOKSEY RITA HINDS VIC KEY R. NEWTON All of this activity helped us reach our goal and we were ready for a trip to Washington D.C. and New York City for eight days of fun and excitement. In Washington D.C. we visit such historical sites as the White House, the Supreme Court, the Smithsonian Institute and the Washington Monument. Then on to New York, the cement jungle, where we visit the Empire State Building, the NBC television network, the United Nations and attend a movie at the Radio City Music Hall. We also en- joy some free time for shopping or seeing other facets of big- city life. CURTIS K. HUDSON MICHAEL J. KUNKER LONNIE C. JONES JOYCE L. PRICE MARSHA SHORT Returning from the trip, we set out to pursue our goals in life. Some will work during the summer and go to college in the fall; others will find permanent jobs. Whatever our goals may be, wherever the future may find us, we will never forget the happy years we spent at good ole Linden High School. RICK JORGENSEN STEVEN R. ROBERTSON JAMES RODGERS MARCIA G. SMITH SANDY K. SMITH DARYL W. WARREN R. KEITH WINGER In the fall of 1959 these students joined Miss Stephensen's first grade. In 1971 they stand on the same front steps that they ascended together many times during the past 12 years. Twelve Years on Wheels For twelve years these 15 stu- dents have rolled along the road of education together, each one looking forward to the new and exciting challenges which await him or her after gradu- ation, yet not forgetting those 12 wonderful years that they have shared at Linden. 9 EDITOR AT WORK All right, who's the wise guy that pushed me into the bucket? STEVE ROBERTSON Boys' State Representative In 1970, 916 boys from various parts of the state congregated at Indiana State University to spend an action-packed week learning more about our govern- ment and about our role as United States citizens. To many of the boys, however, it was a time to get to know other boys and their feelings about our gov- ernment, world problems, religion, and just life in general. The team displayed its spectacular teamwork and team spirit to emerge victorious in the 4-Way Tourney. The Bulldogs proved to be too much for Waynetown and Darlington as they defeated both opponents to bring the famed Montgomery County Keg to Linden. Linden Captures County Title THE LINDEN BULLDOGS- - NUMBER ONE IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY Loud cries of We're number one echoed throughout the Crawfordsville gym in mid-January as the Linden Bulldogs cap- tured the 40th annual Montgomery County Tourney by defeating New Ross, Darlington, and Waveland. Linden fans poured onto the gym floor to congratulate the victorious Bulldogs following the championship game in which Linden dumped the Waveland Hornets 67--59. In the semi-final game, the Bulldogs came from behind to bump the Darlington Indians 73--70 in a thrilling contest which saw both squads battling it out to the end. Linden's victory wrote the end to the Montgomery County Tourney, which is being discontinued due to the consolidation of the eight participating schools into two new schools.
