Amid much roise and chaos of unpacking and meeting new friends, we became aware ol' the fact that we were faced with an entire new way ol' life. The helpfulness of our Senior classmates was very much appreciated at such a time. l'Ve were formally welcomed to Linden Hall the next night at a very impressive formal dinner. Excitement, filled the air on October nine- teenth, as we experienced our first long week- end. 'l'his was soon followed by that in the lives of all first-year students, Hell Day. W'e were rudely awakened in the middle of the night. XVho will ever forget trying to drink with an earring hanging in the coffee, or seranading the townspeople with our melodious voices. 'l'he surprise really came when Dr. Horne an- IWCIIIQ 'SCVCII rouneed that morning that we would spend the day at Mount Gretna, where a surprisingly en- joyable time was had, considering the predica- ment. we were in! It wasn't hard to tell a junior from then on, for our dinks arrived, and trtte to tradition, we wore them night and day. Before we realized it, 'I'hanksgiving had come and gone, and December promised to be an eventful month for everyone. December eighth was the night ol our first college formal dance, followed by the Christmas party, and the Vesper Choir service, all ol' which put us into the CllI'lSlIIl2lS mood. On December nineteenth, we stood bag and baggage ready to go home and enjoy the holidays. 'january third drew near, we were all eager to get back into the swing of things again. Exams passed without any casualties. and we

CLASS PROPHECY The night-September tenth: the year-1962. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hoff fllhyllis X'Vieand to youj had just finished putting the Hoffettes to bed and prepared to watch the new series of fall programs on colored television fnewly invented by Claire Jacobs, the emminent seientist.j. A musical show called Who Would Have Thought They WVould End Up This Way? , or, This ls The End? promised to furnish a good two hours of entertainment. The latest in Cheverolet cars was advertised by the sponsor, Frances Coover, who drove across the stage in a new purple convertible with a chartruese top. A short demonstration on how not to drive a car was demonstrated by Sara Mary Harnish accompanied by Janet Cotta rell playing Why Don'tcha Do Right on the piano. Miss Eleanor Kurtz, the announcer, intro- duced a pantomine starring Louise Baur and Nancy Propes. The short Liet entitled XVhat Can I XVear Of Yours Tonight brought a tre- mendous ovationi and the girls encored by ap- pearing with the infamous Ukettes -a group of talented hillbilly gals. The announcer was also included in this group as was Frances, Sara Mary and Carolyn Hetrich, the latter sending the audience by playing the Anybody Wfanna Pretzel Boogie -and in staccato time!!! just then the Hofls were blessed with two guests. Who should they be but the Lancaster twenty-six Lassies-otherwise known as Peggy Spinner and Ann Shutte. The girls had just returned from a grueling day of hard work, playing exhibition bridge at the Y.M.C.A. Phyllis and Dick and the two girls returned to the television set just as the intermission was about to end. They did manage to see Hilda Grubb as she finished demonstrating how to sleep with your eyes open lor the benefit of all collegiate young people in and around Lititz, Pennsylvania. .Ioan Margaret Mobus fMoe to youj designer ol' stage sets and costumes for the show explain- ed the latest in pthosphorescent materials. She and Chris Barchus, the popular cover girl, modeled the costumes while they did a modern dance routine assisted by the Six Young Men On A String Sextette. Blues singer Do-Do Bradshaw, made her grand entry as usual and wowed the male sec- tion of the audience by singing her original composition VVhat, Hon? What show would be complete without that talkative comediennc, Marianna Blackburn, to bolster the rating. The finale found those two old spinsters, Liz Etchison and Kathy Mfoelper still singing Thine Alone , and from the way it sounded, it's no wonder they still are. Richard Jr. wanted a glass of water, and so the television show seen on the night of Sep- tember tenth, l962 came to an end.

In March, we all looked forward to Spring and our Easter Vacation. May found us practicing even harder lor May Day. XVe also began to get ready lor finals. the .Senior Prom, and CIommencemenl. Betty Baum 'llle twentyvlourth dawned, the day of the prom, and we had the time of our lives. It was May Day, too, and it was then that we realized the end of our Junior year was in sight. Good- byes were in order on June ninth. Clilm Billings XVith mixed emotions we took our leave- happy because ol' the anticipated vacation, but a bit sad about leaving the people who had become so important to us during these few short months.
