Preface It is strange how it seems like only yesterday that we stood before the portals of Lindblom ready and eager to ascend the most beautiful and rhythmic scale of all, that of Lindblom High School. At last we have completed our ascent. We started as lowly Freshies and rose to be lofty Seniors, andnow it is time g ' - blom with us-memories of days gone by-and wonderful memories they are too, memories of glorious sports events when we cheered on the team, whether in victory or defeat, of assemblies which came just in the nick of time because we just didn't have time to study for that test, of the homework that was given to help us gain a fraction of the world's knowledge, ofgthe clubs and oth ' ' ' ' ' teachers who stood by and urged us on when the going got a little tough. Now as we look back we know that what has formed beautiful memories for us has also helped us become better citizens of the world. We shall truly always remember and cherish you, oh Lindblom . . . Since her appointment ZZ years ago, there has been a continual in- crease in the number of her friends as students and faculty have come to know her better. Lindblom is happy to count Miss Shea as a friend. Lindblom 's Tribute of Love Clear against the sun-set heaven, In the hope-Hlled west, Rise thy stately walls, O Lindblom, Halls with beauty blessed. Born of love thy valiant spirit. Purged with flaming truth, Consecrating to man's service Sturdy, eager youth. Final Refrain Shrouded in the shades of ev'ning, Touched with morning light. Proudly stands thy royal eagle, Wings wide-spread for flight Symbol bold of steadfast courage. Of enduring might! So thy Sons go forth vanquish ln the strength of right. Gladly lift we now our voices Thy dear name to sing: To thy shrine of truth and beauty Loving tribute bring. Page I7 English D epartmen to The English department under the direction of Miss Garrity has cn- abled many Lindblom students to understand the complexities of our language. It also introduces them to the best in literature. The speech classes help students to plan assemblies and meetings, and to gain con- fidence in themselves while performing before an audience. At the achievement assembly, Mr. Palmer, the originator of this award, presents a Golden Eagle to each worthy student who has met the requirements. The fact that the Latin Club is both an entertaining and a helpful element in schoolwork is well known by its members. Under the guidance of Miss Hogan it furnishes an added interest in Latin and an added zest to classwork which would be lacking without this organization. Under the direction of Mr. Pence, the choir also offers Lindblom students an excellent opportunity for work in vocal harmony as well as serv- ing as the yardstick by which many people measure Lindblom. Through its many appearances before civic bodies and at church services, the choir has given our school an enviable reputation. Page 66 A MR. EUGENE PENCE 1 lrtzstry an Rhythm The Lindblom Madrigals is a group of selected voices from the A Capella Choir. This group fills the den1and fora small, talented group. The Nladrigals, along with the Choir, is now under the direction of Mr. Pence because of the induction of Mr. Congreve into the Army. These singers appear at many places where there are not accommodations for a full choir. To become a Madrigal is the constant aim of every choir memher. The glory of the Ma- drigals may be seen hy glancing at the numerous plaques on the auditorium walls which they have helped to acquire. The students in this club are the ones who go out and sell the ads for our Eagle thus helping to make our annual bigger and better. The students also make a good profit for themselves. Mr. Blomquist is their sponsor. The students on the dance committee spend many hours in planning and de- corating the gym for Friday night social dances. Knolwl n u'arll 0 Victory The Lindblom Eagles finished up the 1950 season with a league record of four wins and two losses tying for third place in the Central Section while splitting two exhibition games. The team obtained this fine record only through per- sistence. self-sacrifice, and long dreary hours on the practice field. Frank Bou- lokos and Mel Allison. the two co-captains, surely deserve the highest praise for the way they led and inspired the squad throughout the season. The boys on the bench, the three managers, capabably aided Coach Dutch Von Bremer to carry out and further the famous Lindbloni football tradition that he has been so instrumental in forming.
