Through combined efforts and lots of student enthusiasm , the girls aided in arousing school spirit. During the summer, cheerleaders, as shown at bottom left to right, head cheerleader Shauna Cowen, Tanya Craze, Shelia Nichols, Suzy Simpson, Lavon Mallory, and Kaffie Fleming attended Stephen F. Aus- tin University Cheerleading Clinic to learn precision movements and new cheers. Cheerleaders' projects include making hall posters, performing pep rally skits, and decorating the school before games. 'i . I ,Jw Pep Squad The '73-'74 Pep Squad consisted of 38 members. These girls par- ticipated in yells and chants. They energetically led our team on to victory. The president of the Pep Squad is Beatrice Rodriquez, and Vice- President Arlene Smith. The representatives are as follows: Senior - Brenda Boaz Junior - Ella Cooper Sophomore - Sharon Smith Freshman - Tammy Smithey This year the Pep Squad elected Lenis Pierce and Jerry Freeman as salt and pepper. 'N Q Modern Family Livin We Y Modern Family Living at Lindale High School is a very vital sub ject for any student contemplating marriage or wishing to leave the security of the parent's home and venture out independently. In our course we try to present all the complex problems and situa- tions that every person faces in life. Through our discussions we hope the students will become better informed and better able to make the appropriate decisions that will make them happy , responsible persons. We stress the fact that every one is an individ ual and has their own values, ideas and way of life and that very few areas discussed will have a right or wrong because what's right for one may be wrong for another and vice versa. A11 thoughts in class are to be respected . The purpose of the course is not to change anyone but to help everyone with their own unique prob- lems and needs. Did you know that the Federal government is engaged in these and several hundred other business-type activities... engaged in competition with thousands of private enterprises and tens of thousands of jobs, maybe one of them your own? Of special interest to taxpayers is government's activities in the electric power business. Such government projects have already cost more than S13 billion, and if continued at projected rates will cost taxpayers an estimated additional S50 billion, including taxes foregone, in the next 20 years. The irony of this is that investor-owned power companies are ready, willing and able to supply all of our nation's present and predicted needs for electric power. if TEXAS POWER 8a LIGHT COMPANY a lax-paying, investor-owned elecfric utility Diamonds - Watches - Jewelry - Silver - Gifts lEVlERlETT JEWELERS TYL E Rwlfgjggga, TE xA5 wr 2 2 W S l lUll Qvrnicrkx L09 South Broadway, Tyler, Texas 597-5492 BURKS-WALKER-TIPPIT Funeral Directors HAROLD L.
