A tmosphere of the New Library -evsT'f 'heist 1 t - -Y' X- , rg. , -xmx ,,.x,,,, .. , ..,a':-.Lf Scaled: D. Long, li. Perry, N. Evans, D. White, C. Speakman, S. Gorman, Librarian, G. Dunlap, R. Bair, .l. Rode, M.Richards, S. Profit, B. llundley V. Matthews, K. Cole. Standing: C. Strawscr, B. Miller, Mrs. Holmes, .l. Bolton, S. Harter, B. Oglesbee. During the summer of 1968, the old band room in the high school building was remodeled into quarters for the library. In September, these new attractively decorated spacious quarters were opened lo appreciative student patrons. The reading room seats forty-four people at ten tables and two carrels. The finish of the tables and cabinets is dark fruit wood, and the chairs are yellow, white, salmon, and aqua. A separate student conference room seats six people. Here students may work together preparing panel discussions, de- bates, and in other group activities. Carrels are another innovation in the library. Students can work in the carrels on projects which require non-book materials, such as film strips for the present, and later, various listening and viewing devices. The library now has 3,500 volumes. Approximately five hundred additional volumes are to be added in 1969. Thirty- six periodicals are subscribed to. A pamphletfile is maintained, as well as an information file of ephermeralbut useful material. Although the library is now largely in the book stage, in the future it will become a multi-media learning center. 1 -9- v . in Mrs. I-lolms, librarian, enjoys the new library facilities
