Here the people came in throngs to hear Ralph Wise, America's most thrilling Evangelist. He was assisted in his work by Jim Page as musical director. I saw a huge building which I knew at once to be a theatre. The electrical sign stretched across the front read 'Madge and Margef Whoever thought that Madge Einger and Marjorie Abernethy would be opera stars? Within the walls of an Institution of Mercy, Addie May Page was the capable Superintendent. I found that Charles Caskey was Librarian at the University of N. C. and was considered the most efiicient they ever had. The next scene showed a department store in which Silvia Lingerfelt, Lucille Ritchie, Pearl Peeler and Willie Bell Harvey were employed as models. I saw next Ered Kistler managing a chewing gum factory. How this re- minded me of the days when he chewed gum in school. A well equipped grocery store came into view. At the front stood Carroll Abernethy, the owner, watching John Wood paint a sign on the window. In the same city I saw a hospital in which Mary Ellen Harrill, Pansy Jonas, Juanita Coffee, Josephine Roberts. Inez Whitesides and 'Ruby Keever were capable nurses. I found that Stearn Warlick was catching for the New York Giants. Hariett Anderson was disclosed as the private secretary to the Governor of N. C. Another turn of the ball and I saw Sara Bynum. Dean of a well known school for girls and four outstanding members of the Eaculty were none other than Elsie Camp, Betty Haynes Roseman, Marie Senter and Annie Sue Houser. Willie Mae Canipe had become a famous novelist, her latest book being just off the press. In Chicago, I saw Sara Camp and Elizabeth Leonard operating a manicurist shop. When I turned the ball again I saw Harold Huffman and S. C. Carpenter who own and operate a large textile mill. An interesting scene came next. It was the office of two famous lawyers in New York, whose gold-lettered sign read, Brevard and Grice, attorneys-at-law. I found that Hugh Davis. Marshall Beal and Paul Eury had recently been elected to Congress. In a beautifully decorated home I saw Irene Rudisell and Carolyn Turner who were interior decorators. James Quickle was making good operating a Hardware store. It did not surprise me much to find that Hubert Cloninger was playing professional football. I found that Lelia Barkly and Rose Lynch were operating a hat shop in one of the large cities. In Boston I saw Louise Britt, Helen Lockman and Sue Anna Sullevan who were employed as clerks in a department store. As I again started to turn the crystal ball it slipped from my fingers and crashed to the floor. All that remained was small bits of glass scattered on the floor. But why should I worry? Had I not completed the prophecy for all of my Classmates? HORACE RHYNLS, Class Prophel. Page Twenty-one LAAAAA.AA.AAAA,AL.AAAL,AA,i , lA.AAAaA.A.,:?-,aS..f,.,.'...

CLASS PROPHECY Finding the task of prophet to be more difncult than I expected, I taxed all of my prophetic powers and gazed deep into the crystal ball. Here I saw a blurred vision. As it became clearer I saw Hal Hoyle. now a famous physician and Bobby Steve Reinhardt, owner of an undertaking establishment. both living in a small town in Tennessee. Business seemed to be thriving and it is rumored that they have quite an understanding between them. As I turned the ball the scene changed, I saw Sarah Ramseur in China doing Mission work. Witlain the walls of a stone building I saw Max Holland auditing the books of the Second National Bank of which Fred Lee Seagle was President. The next scene showed Robert Lineberger. ace news commentator, giving a play-by-play description of an exciting football game between Coach Bill Sigmon's Duke Blue Devils and Coach Paul Lawing's N. C. State Wolves Sitting before a canvass I saw Marybelle Cline, a famous artist, sketching a beautiful landscape. When I again turned the ball I saw a large passenger plane about to leave on a flight from Atlanta to New York. The pilot. much to my surprise, was Bill Aycock and who should be the air hostess but Sally Smith. A thrilling scene next appeared. L. C. Hovis, candidate for Governor was visiting his home town on a speechemaking tour before election. An immense parade was being marshalled by Wilton Hipp, Charlie Keener, Craig Schrum. Wade Wise and .Iake Rhodes. Patriotic airs were being played by Craig Wood's Band. Following the band. came the cavalry led by Captain Charlie Beal and Lieutenants Bob I-Ieafner and Hamilton Blanton. I found that Laura Fox Turbynll and Frona Lee Faker had an exclusive shop on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The famous gowns which were shown at this shop were designed by Mary Alice Rhyne and Martha Newton. Once more I turned my crystal ball and in a modern Beauty Parlor I saw Sibyl Knight and Thelma Proctor, the owners. directing a group of efficient operators. The joint owners of a large circus I discovered to be Clyde Baker and .Ioe Crooks. The next scene that met my view was a cafeteria in Boston. Much to my surprise I recognized Avis Heavner, Mary Keener, Virginia Miller, Duette Grigg and Margaret Dellinger dressed in attractive uniforms and serving food to throngs of people. I found from the crystal ball that Dorothy I-Ioneycutt, Marcene Blaney. Louise Hinkle and Ruth Kiser were appearing in a successful Comedy on Broadway. As I turned the ball again I saw P. D. Hinson operating a radio station. The radio was announcing a prize fight between Vance Yount and James Long. The President of the International Broadcasting Association was John Leonard. A copy of the New York Times flashed before my eyes. In the center of the page was a conspicuous picture of Broadus McCiinnis, its newly elected editor. A crowded theatre now appeared to my wondering view. Who should appear on the stage but Franklin Barkley and his orchestra. At the back of the theatre stood Charles Leonard. the Manager.
