Elizabeth Norman. herself a blushing bride, is in charge of a matrimonial bureau. Virginia Stroup will entertain Mrs. F. D. Roosevelt at the Rio Tearoom on Fifth Avenue, Thursday. Joe Gates, owner of Queen City Lines. has just purchased small. comfortable. buses in place of the large ones. Ottileen Robinson is trying to vamp the young internes at a Washington hospital, and she has been reported engaged. but she will never marry, for men are afraid of blondes. Joe Crooks. animal trainer of Barnum and Bailey Circus. is reported rapidly improving from wounds received during the training of a lion. Ruth Fortenbury, Pearl Bynum, and Pauline Waters are scheduled to go abroad to study voice. I.. C. Hovis. heavyweight boxing champion of the U. will compete with the champion of England for the world title. Walter Cashion, skilled bookkeeper. is working for the Atlantic Oil Company of New Jersey. Louise Goodman and Loreine Parker will sing several numbers at the annual meeting of musicians at New York next month. James Goodson. secret service man, solved the baffling murder of the oil magnet. The out- come was suicide. Gladys Goodson, operator of the Mades Lunch Room of this city, is putting on a special supper of good, home-cooked food tonight. The Three Musketeers, Marshall Beal. Clyde Abernathy and Grady Abernathy, will make a stratosphere flight Monday morning to return in several months. Nurse Lucille Kendrick saved Nurse Dorothy Reynolds's life from a burning building adjoining the hospital. John I-Iauss, private secretary of the Fox Studios, has been transferred to the Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios on account of his excellent work. Lloyd Cornwell. announcer for WBT. will direct the morning program. the Musical Clock, beginning next week. The country's most valuable novelist. Pernell Finger. will tour parts of Europe for the purpose of obtaining better material for further stories. Inez Abernathy and Elsie Camp. of Lincolnton, were among the few girls selected as the Wampas Baby Stars of 1936. Mary Hoffman and Rose Campbell. socialites of New York, will attend the Presidents Ball as honor guests. Paul Lawing, a senior at Duke University, won the essay contest, made possible by Eddie Cantor. The prize is a European tour. Gladys Carpenter and Margaret I-Ieafner, designers, will sponsor a Style Show at the pavilion at Miami, Florida next week.
