As I lounged in an easy chair l before a great log fire, I thought of the splendid evening, of dear classmates. and of Q I what the fates might bring to us Seniors before many years rolled by. My tired head . began to nod-I opened my eyes-why, what is this? A huge hall festooned in yellow i and white, long tables meticulously set and decoratedl with green pine and brown burrsfa i I perfect replica of our first banquet. On a small table I noticed a register which read, Class i ' of '25 Reunion. December ZS, 1935 i just then the door burst open and a brisk-looking individual appeared. - I 'Diddle' Gabriel, as I live! I cried, recognizing the old class president. XVhere did ! you come from? ! Rushed right over from my lecture in Charlotte, he answered. I'm tickled pink to I see you. How are Japan and the young heathen? 6 I Before I could answer' regarding UIQ' missionary work, he went on, Here's old Ibbiel i XVell, well. I hear she collectedl something besides relics in India. XVondcr what, she ' has done with her British captain? i .Xt that moment a commotion was heard outside and Io Terrell. a,1 charming vaudeville ! star, I. learned, Nancy Robinson, who runs a very prosperous boarding house in Lincolnton l for 1114-11 only! and could it be? Hur class rooms were not adjacent, however, though we felt as if they were, because of a sort of loving or friendly spirit between them. , Wleelcs passed and the 'llhanlqsgiving recess came, which we welcomed very l , much, for French, geometry. history, and physics were giving us much worry. j A month flitted away and the Christmas season was on, which lasted seventeen days. 'l'hen we returned to school with a sort of sluggish feeling toward. our labor. Then, soon, we were found to be overwhelmed with mid-term examinations, but the thought of these quickly vanished and we found ourselves drifting on calm tides of time. l Now we remember the joys and sorrows of the month, of May. After the l dreaded tests had passed, we welcomed the eoming summer vacation. j At the close of the year, each of us left with the hope that the following year we might be joined as Seniors. Of course, no one will be surprised to hear that Mae Crouse Merritt: is our wittiest and most original senior. Our most athletic classmate is George Crowell, while Guy lleattie is the largest. Yirginia Sherrill leads in style. XYho will disagree with the census that Mary Lou Thompson is the chatter- box of our class? l.ala Xlithers is our sweetest and best looking girl, while james Putnam is our most polite and best looking boy. lt is the unexpected that often happens, but it does? seem queer that Aubrey Shives, by unanimous vote, is the most ambitious and also the biggest bluff in our class. Sara Hall, our most populiar Senior, is also the cutest. Statistics state that Virginia Sherrill is the most talented, while Clara Quig- nard is the most capable. Who would have thought that Helen Setzer is our most bashful Senior? 'llo Frank Gamble goes the credit for being the neatest. liveryone admits that Mary Spencer Love is the most graceful, while Mary Yoder is the most dignified. Precious lloyle is our typical Senior. The census shows that Clara Guignard is our most studious classmate, while lsluitt Carpenter is the laziest. Hur most attractive Senior is Sara Hall. Josephine Terrell: secretary and treasurer, Ileulah lilantonz hostess, Olivia Chamberlain: floor manager, l.eila Self: publicity manager, Sara llall. During the past years the girls of the l.inc1ilnton High School have shown little interest in athletics of any kind. This fact, of course, was because of the lack of equipment and proper instruction. But since our occupation of the new high school building with its splendid gymnasium an effort has been made to interest as many girls as possible in sports. This. rather than turning out winning teams, was the main object of the Girls' Athletic Association. The girls have shown much interest and enthusiasm for basketball and have worked to produce a successful team, although this is a difficult matter for girls having so little experience and training. 'llhey have played several games and, although usually meeting defeat, show much determination and good sportsman- ship. Miss Shuller has been an eflicient coach and Miss Elizabeth Hoke has been kind to help instruct the girls and to act as referee in the games. For the spring work it is our aim to arouse an interest in tennis, volleyball. indoor baseball, and track. This is just a beginning of what is expected from the girls of next year and the years after. The girls of old Lincolnton High have always, done their part in boosting the school and are justly proud of the work of the boys' teams. llut we hope sometime soon to do our part in giving our school a high standing in athletics. 4. 4. .9 MEMBERS LEILA SELF ETIIICL HARRILL SUE M.xUNEY lZ:LlZrXBE'l'I'I SMITH ELv,x DEITZ Vivw LEE IJNEBEIQGIQR Biintwrr BLANTON SAXLLUC Scorr Eizwrn P.vNsv Woon Rtrrn IMRIQER Sineixn f'fALL GICURGIE Rtinrsru.
