Ricketts INDUSTRIAL ARTS CLUB The main purpose of the Industrial Arts Club is to provide opportunities for the development of leadership in civic, social, and industrial pursuits. Some of the main activities of the club were sponsoring monthly co-rec nights, the annual state convention, and other money-making proiects. Ron Fredin, senior member, was the state presi- dent He presided at the convention held at Rockford. During the convention he presided at luncheon, at the banquet and when the delegafes were seated during the actual business ot the convention. We contributed to a state-wide move to purchase a trait of land to build a camp site for all the club members in Illinois. Lorenz, L. Senglin, H. STUDENT CCUNCIL The Student Council affords students a voice in the government of the school and coordinates its many activities. The Homecoming activities and the magazine sales campaign were under the sponsorship of the Student Council. A iuke box for the relaxation and enioyment of students during the lunch periods was provided and maintained. Through the Student Council, activity funds were made available for pur- chasing the school station wagon. Routine iobs in- cluded allocating concessions, working on school rules, assisting with Step-Up Day, conducting Student Council Week, and developing materials for several group guidance discussions. Barnett, J. Eden, G. White, W. Louffer, B. Bruce, C. Otto Two assembly programs were arranged by the Student Council. Joe Anthony, orphan Korean boy now a citizen of the U. S., told of some of the experiences he had endured in his native country. Mr. Warkow, coordinator of student councils at the state level, addressed the L-W Students on the general topic of developing a philosophy of life. OFFICERS President . .... The selection of students on the basis of scholar- ship, character, leadership and service takes place twice annually. Fredin, Tom This honorary organization raised money by the sale of stationery, greeting cards, and flowers for dances. Most of the proceeds from these sales was used in providing the scholarships given to two of the members each year.
