Another senior class will soon depart from Lincoln-Sudbury, preceeded by a week of long awaited events. This is senior week when seniors have traditionally participated in a variety of activities highlighted by the overnight and the senior class prank. Although it has been looked upon unfavorably by school officials, the senior class prank has remained an established part of the graduation rite. Each year the seniors leave the school and community with an expression of their gratitude which serves as an inspiration to the underclassmen. Past years’ pranks range from a large “ ‘78” carved in the hill of the new softball field and a rowboat on the roof of the glass corridor, to a sign reading “Class of ’76” spray painted on the side wall of the school auditorium. Some of the more elaborate pranks include a volkswagen welded around the flag pole outside the glass corridor, tires stacked over the same flag pole another year, and the removal of street and shop signs throughout the town, which was the most costly and most condemned prank. This year’s senior class prank is sure to be one of the most impressive. The class of ’7 9 is an innovative group and we should be able to come up with some good ideas to top former pranks. Some challenging ideas have been thrown around, but we have yet to see what senior week will bring. steve low
