PILOT S LOG fContmued grounded so we turned our attention to gain ing new knowledge and trying to forget our knowledge of slang Ruth learned that coat room signs were for the benefit of us all that they were not to be removed on impulse Fourth Grade During a stop over we de cided to try something new and exciting Therefore the fire station was our next stop Upon discovering the use of a pole in the center of the station we all proceeded to wear out our skirts by slidtnv down it lNatural ly we were intrigued by the bright red en gines but our own transportation awaited us and we retired to the plane for our fifth hour of flight Fifth Grade At this time the first of our several pilots opened the lands of Central and South America to our minds Our parents began to Find gaps in their newspapers and magazines as we delighted with our new discoveries made scrap books about the country of our choice ive also became the proud authors and actors of a new play entitled Mexrran Fzesta Under our second first parts tn the traditional Vespers service YVhen winter really set in we felt sorry for our few remaining feathered friends and took ad vantage of the bird feeding station outside our window YVe enjoyed the meals more than the birds though for we found that raw corn was almost as good as the cooked variety Sixth Grade Here udy and ulie proved to us that we couldnt use them as navigators on the plane since they couldn t find England or the Mississippi on a map XVe discarded our plane when we found that our Magic Blankets would serve the same purpose dur mg rest hour XVe turned to even more Pflml llvC means of travel when we turned motm taineers and climbed Blue Hill at Nfvdies invitation Our slogan for the year was A poem a week in our memories well keep Seventh Gmde Our flights became more complicated as definite schedules were mtro duced for our daily work However that we still clung to the few remaining remnants of our childhood was indicated by our lunch hour jack games One of the high flights of the year w is our presentation of Pickwick Papers ll hen tap d inetng was discovered however we abandoned our dramatic talents and turned to the more glamourous life of chorus girls Ezghth C mdf' Our study of American his ttlry' led us on a trip to the State House where we were more interested in the aim of the Senators than in their views on the Jamestown Ferry In a fashion show our passengers demonstrated the right and wrong styles for air travel whether our destination were the beach or the ballroom XX e celebrated the end of our last flight tn the lower atmosphere with a presentation of Hansel and Gretel In that play we lost Iudy in an oven and will now try to remcarnate her Nznth Crade We took on so many new passengers for this flight that we could no longer eat in the Plane s dining room conse quently we sandwiched ourselves lnto the freshman coatroom a territory forbidden to us that we traded dances for the December Tea Dance Although the plane was still our favor ite mode of transportation we were worried by talk of raising the driving age therefore we wrote a letter to the editor complaining about the situation Tenth Frade YVe moved to a bigger air liner and chose a capable leader to pilot us through our last three flights the first of w hieh involved a trip to apan where we stopped off at the Mikados palace 'Ihis trip tired us so that we went to Sally s house for another of our slumber parties This party was won derful as usual but we did everything but slumber Gail came the closest to it however under -Xnn s great hvpnotic powers llr' entlz Fmde lxttty led the scientists of the class to the lab to be scared to death by their first view of grasshoppers fwhat Phv lum and frogs Alas' a turn to material things' Money!
