Truels Geistland - Exchange Student Putting on his tennis shoes Truels gets ready for a practice session with the team. Showing a sweater with the name of his hometown across the back to Sharron Deremer. Norway Hometown - Herova lleroya is a small city in Norway, actually not a city at all, but more like a village. It is located slightly more than 110 miles south of the capital Oslo, on the west side of Oslo fjord. Only 4,000 people are living there, and most of them are working in a big factory, in fact the biggest of that kind in the world. The main product is artificial fertilizer made of the nitrogen in the air, but they also make other electro-chemical products. This makes Heroya the third largest export city in Norway. The city provides very good recreational facilities for its people. They have a great socker field, with places for all types of field sports. Handball is also played quite a bit. You can go swimming in the fjords nearbyg and in the winter you can go skating on one of the two big rinks, or on the frozen fjords. just a couple of miles away you have beautiful places for skiing. Right now the three upper grades of high school must go to school in a nearby city, but soon they hope to have a school of their own. From this city in Norway comes Lincoln Park High School's first exchange student. Next year another will travel from some far off place to join us in the first year in the new Lincoln Park High School. Truels gives the photographer a good smile for his LPHS friends. 89
