A-9' 'TO P B-9' - 0 X , 1 1 .X f . gi. f S . xx 5 A superbly coached A-9 football team downed the hard fighting B-9's before a large crowd, October 26. The game was touch and go from start to finish. Bill Howard, A-9 back, picked up the opening kickoff and raced 60 yards up the north sideline for what appeared to be an A-9 touchdown. But officials detected that he had stepped out of bounds at mid- field. ln the first quarter 'the A-9's marched to the 'B-9 three yard line. But on the fourth down, Lee Grosscup throw was incomplete to Willy Holguin in the end zone and the A-9 threat was stopped. Fred Beck, B-9 tailback, tried a quick kick from his own end zone, but is was blocked by hard charging Tom Marsiglia, A-9 line- man. The kick traveled only l7 yards be- fore Iohn Carmack pounced on 'it for the A-9's. The A-9's once more took over. But they could not move and the B-9's took over on their own 20. The teams were still deadlocked 0-0 at the half. When the A-9's got the ball in the second half, it spelled disaster for the B-9's boys. Lee Grosscup, A-9 tailback, took the ball on what ,looked to be an end sweep. Faking nicely, he stopped and fired a perfectly aimed aerial into the arms of Willy Holguin who made a sensational catch. Outracing the last B-9 defender, Hol- guin went into the end zone untouched for the onlyytouchdown of the day. Grosscup passed to Iohn Griffiths for the extra point and the A-9's enjoyed a 7-0 lead. In the last quarter, with time running out, the A-9's once more began to move. On third down, Grosscup fired a flare pass to George Hughley who raced to the B-9's 40. Then Grosscup threw long to Holguin, who ran to the Bs9's 5. Two plays later, the game ended with the ball on the B-9 4 yard line. - A-9 coaches were Mr. Steinman and Mr. Clark. The B-9 coaches were Mr. Carter and Mr. Delkner.
