HUNSICKER Someone once said, Art is a demonstration that the ordinary is extraordinary . The author must have had you in mind, Harold Hunsicker, because you have given something more than ordinary of your time, patience, and talent. Each and every holiday at Lincoln has become more meaningful because of your creative displays. Christmas programs, and senior class plays have been enhanced because of your talent and skill. Not only have you given years of service and loyalty to Lincoln High School, but you have given of yourself by showing a genuine interest in each and every student who has passed your way. May you have many happy years of retirement, and during those years remember that Lincoln students will not forget you. The classes of January and June 1968 arc happy and proud to dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Harold Hunsicker, teacher, artist, and friend. Harold Hunsicker plans out another of his main hall showcase displays. After adding his final personal touch to the display, Mr. Hunsicker locks up the showcase. 2 f Mr. Mancinl A Principal's Work Is Never Done Now, as high school graduates, you can look back at a phase in your life which required a period of study devoted to acquiring some of the basic knowledge and skills needed for living in our present civilization. Now, as adults, you feel as if you are sitting on top of the world looking out to a life different from anything you have known so far. We share this feeling with you and hope that your high school diploma will serve as a means to a good job and to further educational opportunities. No matter what lies ahead, remember that graduation is just another term for commencement. The time has come to think like adults. Remember the admonition made by our late President John F- Kennedy in his inauguration speech, Think not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. While you are sitting on top of the world, remember that it is a revolving world and void being cast into nothingness. Yes, there will be discouraging moments. However, these will be overshadowed by the many opportunities which exist in this space age. Keep your foot in the door which is now ajar to new vistas and capitalize on the many opportunities which will be yours. A much needed unit, they help to keep our school functioning more efficiently by working for teachers, in the office, and wherever they can be of help. This year they have served as usherettes at plays, assemblies, and commencements. As they played hostesses at the annual Community Christmas Party the Lincolnettes brought laughter to the eyes of the children. The Projection Crew who operates the Noon Movies is responsible for the operation and minor maintenance of the 35mm Carbon-Arc projector and the high-intensity 16mm projector. Her next performance was in So This is Paris . Her acting experience grew from drama class skits and class plays. In 1967, Oksana joined classes at the Cleveland Playhouse. Here she appeared as Snow White in the production of Snow White and Rose Red . To date her most rewarding experience has been the development of the character of Annie Sullivan in the Miracle Worker . Her performance as Annie Sullivan will long be remembered by Lincoln Audiences. LYDIA LAZAR—MRS. KELLER Lydia Lazar, who was seen here as Helen Keller's mother, has a variety of experience in the theater. She was first seen by Lincoln audiences as Debbie in So This is Paris . Several seasons with the Cleveland Playhouse have not only strengthened her acting ability, but braodened her areas of work in the theater. Lydia has appeared recently in the Playhouse productions of Snow White and Rose Red , and Servant of Two Masters . Backstage she has worked with such productions as Life With Father , Bareloot in the Park , and The Miser . In 1967 she won a Fine Arts Scholarship through the Marta Jennings Holden Foundation at Chautauqua, New York, where she studied acting and other aspects of the theater. Her performance as Mrs. Keller in The Miracle Worker was the sensitive portrayal of the mother of a deaf mute. A fine acting job. EFTY ROKAKIS—HELEN KELLER Efty Rokakis began acting at the age of ten in a Creek play. It was here her love of the theater began, and so it was natural she should enroll in drama classes here at Lincoln. Her first production at Lincoln High School was in The Wizard of Oz . The following year she was seen in So This is Paris . In the summer of 1967, she journeyed to Chautauqua, New York with her friend Lydia Lazar as a winner of a Fine Arts Scholarship. In the fall of 1967, Efty joined the Cleveland Playhouse Youth Theater. At Lincoln High School, she tried out for the role of Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker , but as fate would have it, she landed the role of Helen Keller instead. Anyone seeing The Miracle Worker with Efty as Helen will tell you it was a lucky quirk of fate. Her characterization was strong, vivid, and realistic to every detail. LOIS LAZOR--AUNT VI Lois Lazor who played Aunt Vi, has also been seen in So This is Paris . Her talents are evident not only in drama, but in music as well. As a student at Lincoln High School, she has participated in chorus, band, and orchestra. She is also a member of All City Band and Chorus. Lois has spent her summers surrounded by music. The summer of 1967 was spent with an amateur opera company. Her stage presence and ability to develop a role were quite evident in her last appearance at Lincoln in The Miracle Worker. 53 Our It’s Academic Team It's Academic team from left to right: Mike Jacewicz, Linda Kinsey, Joe Hawkins, Jeannine Tortelli, Patrick Tchou, Christine Adrianowicz, Darrell Felon, Helen Laskaris, Tim Balch, and Carole Zander. Below is shown one of their many projects to accomplish this end. 58 Sending another player into the fray is Head Coach Richard Sowinski, looking on is Assistant coach Gary Palmer. One of the loudest groups of supporters of the football team is the Lincoln marching band. Looking over the oppositions defense in anticipation of the next play is Quarterback Tony Potopenko. IT'S MINE, seems to be the story, Senior Forward Jose Villanueva tells in a rebounding battle against Marshall. He won't give me my ball , is what Center Dennis Flub Zwycski seems to be saying to Coach Sawchik during a fight for the ball with a Cowboy from West. Junior Guard Willie Avery removed all doubt as he scored on a lay-up against South. Senior Forward Marty Hunt makes 1 of the 5 free throws he had in LHS' first game over Cantius. Standing by is Senior Guard Nick Zandes. SNEED, WANDA L. 102 SOMETIMES AT NIGHT Sometimes at night I think back on the day--One day can lead into the days before. And I will wonder if upon my way If I have honored God that day much more. I know the life that He has planned for me And In this life I may become more full. I know Him well, I talk to Him, you see With Him the conversation is re'rc dull He gives me peace as through the day I go For someday I will share the heavens wide I love Him that a song within me flows And through the day I know He's by my side I thank Him so for all He's given me Eternal life and love which is so free. THINGS AT BEAUTY There is beauty in everything; Raindrops falling on a rose The fresh alive feeling of Spring, he leaves that rustle as the wind gently blows, e gray mist of night slowly lifting, apple tree in Spring a-bloom, sands on the beach ever shifting quiet of a warm night in June, lazing sight of the setting sun blended colors of the rainbow, ceful flowing movement of a horse on the run cring winter day as it passes slow, the greatest beauty is possest of my love--in the look I know best. Ill Pictures, pictures, everywhere and which one shall we choose? When you're co-editor of the yearbook there's loads of decisions to be made as Carol and Darrell find out here. Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Citizens of Camelot... Having reached the end of our reign as Editor, we now reflect upon the past year. In these reflections, I cannot help remembering many moments of great joy and many of utter disaster. The joys of this editorship have been great and varied. The rushing to meet the first set of deadlines, then the great exultation of having the deadlines moved back, and the agonizing rush the week before the deadline comes due to complete 28-30 pages. Behind every great yearbook, there is an advisor; our book is no exception. Our great woman is Mrs. Helene Maloy. She has given unceasingly of her time and of her counsel. Mrs. Maloy has helped us over many rough spots and out of many a tight squeeze. Also, I would like to thank Mr. Ray Vladcr, our representative from the publisher. He, like Mrs. Maloy, has given us his counsel and time. In many ways Mr. Vlader has been taken into our family and has endeared himself to us. Last, but not least, I would like to thank my co-editor, Carole Zander, who has taken on many jobs and has done them admirably. I would like to thank the rest of my staff for all their time and effort in completing Camelot '68. The time has come to put Camelot '68 to bed and let the history of Lincoln move into a new chapter, which holds, who knows what for the coming years. Yearbook editor Darrell Felon's motto seems to be Keep Smiling! , even if you're losing out on the grub to complete the job. 112 i
