Alumni N mvs of 19177 A PAGE FROM THE DIARY OF HELEN FORTUNATO “I was very happy to have won the jack-pot prize in “Know Your Foods” taslevision contest, on April 21. 1977. I left Cleveland on May 14. 1977 and arrived in Mexico City via Rocket Lines half hour later, fitting an officer of high rank. My guide, I was happy to find, was my old classmate, Helen Geletka. Former classmates James Pekarik and John Palencar were promoted to five and four star generals, respectively. while their dear friend. She took me to visit all the beautiful cafes and parks of Mexico City. In the heart of the city, I spied an exquisite looking store called Scar-dicchio's Fashion Center. Miss Geletka pointed out to me that this beautiful store is owned and supervised by Miss Phyllis Scardiechio, and the person that designs all these gorgeous clothes for the Fashion Center is that famous dress designer, Miss Gloria Matyshyn. We left the Fashion Center and went across the street to a cozy little cafe called “R. U. Inn” to have some coffee. We sat down at a table and waited to be served. About one hour later a stout man came and greeted my guide, and to my surprise the owner of this little cafe turned out to be Nick Saris. He ordered for us and we enjoyed a wonderful meal a la Saris. We visited many other places, but the one place I really enjoyed seeing was the Casino on Sombreros Street. It was so beautifully decorated inside with its fine furniture and flowers—really a beautiful job of interior decorating. Miss Geletka told me enthusiastically that this job was done by the internationally famous interior decorator, Miss Arline Krug. We went to the front of the cafe and I noticed on the billboard that the one and only Bcrnadinc Ivan was the main attraction there for that night. We wound up the trip by visiting the museum of Mexico and I returned to Cleveland on June 14. 1977. after having had a very profitable and enjoyable trip.” •Released by permission of Miss Helen Fortunato. and publisher.
