Senior Editors: Rickey Harrington, Tina Green Junior Editors: Robin Scott, Heather Longar Sophomore Editors: Mitzi Tittle, Connie Copelin Students from the hip to the hick we've got them all! Yes. that's right, it is very possible to find almost every walk of life at Lin- coln High. Jocks, hicks, the mature . bookworms, brown nosers, wallflowers, nerds, jerks, and preps are Just a few. And then there are those that are in a class all their own. Which of these do you fit into? Have you even thought about it. or are you in one of our ever popular nonthinking categor- ies? If so. never fear, there are a few people out there who are thinking for you. When Mitzl Tittle was asked what category she thought she fit into, she replied, “I'm a bookworm, but definitely not a wallflower. Shaan Glenn's re- ply was. I'm a jock!'' When asked why. he said. “’Cause I'm gonna play football next year. Well, to each his own! Rickey Harrington couldn t de- cide what category he fit into, but Jeannie Spears and Sheilah Moore both agreed that he was definitely a brown noser. Whether or not Rickey agrees is a different story. But. no matter what category you fit into. LHS holds a place for you. Are you a student or what? l 2 Arc you serious? Jason Carr is quite obviously a jock dressed in his football Jersey. What preps! Stylish dressing seems to be a natural part for Matt Miggins and Rhonda Burk- hart. What a face! By this picture, Cheryl Pratt proves to us she's definitely not a wallflower. Watch That Guy DanceIII Shawn Paine, a junior, has been noticed by many students for his fantastic dancing, but being from Los Angeles. Cali- fornia, it's no wonder he can dance so well! When Shawn was little, he used to watch the Breakers dance and it was easy for him to pick up on. Mow. break dancing and playing the guitar are his favorite hobbies. Shawn likes it here better than in LA. Why? “ Cause you don't get shot or stabbed here, and there aren't any gangs. I'm sure we can all understand that! Shawn enjoys dancing at Morma Jeans and Mardi Gras, and when asked what he thought about when he dances, he replied, “Mainly my girl- friend. Mow sweet! Shawn's fu- ture plans are to attend college at either harvard or UCLA, and his final remarks are Life with someone you love is like corn- flakes and milk. Mis words of wisdom to us all are Mever eat yellow snow!' What a crazy guy!!! 3 Rabbits, Skateboards, And Hey Dude What Do These English? e To In putting a jigsaw puz- zle together, have you ever noticed the many shapes and sizes you use before the pieces all fit? Well, in the English lan- guage here at LHS, you will find as many shapes and puzzling influences as you find in a jigsaw puzzle. Most of our Eng- lish language originates from a foreign language or country. We have few good ole American-' words, such as: wheels, shades, jocks, babe, etc ... We use many words everyday that we think of as American, but actually are foreign, such as: coyote, wolf, prairie, pumpkin, etc ... But the students here at LHS are working hard to produce an American concept of the Enqlish language. As History? you walk down LHS halls, you will hear endearing terms such as: Hey, Dude by Meredith Kahl; Dah .. Huh ... Dah .. Huh by Curtis Griscom; •| @ by almost every- one; Okie Dokie by those who mean yes; and aaah so by those who just solved an earth-shat- tering puzzle. Of course, this is just a sampling of how the LHS version of the English language is progressing, but each of us should realize that foreign language is a part of our daily lives. LHS students are actually speaking in a foreign dia- lect just by opening their mouths, even if it's only to utter Dah .. Huh ... Dah .. Huh .. HOW that is puzzling. Have you ever dreaded going to a History class because of boring lec- tures, thousands of names, dates, and places, or just because you thought who needs history anyway? Well, al- though we don't have students like Karen Cheatham going on joy rides down the hall on a skateboard this year, we do have students like Sarah Epps who fall asleep in the middle of one of Mr. Kinzer's “brief' lectures. Howev- er, each of us should re- member that we have to learn from the history of yesterday in order to un- derstand tomorrow. This year marks the 200th an- niversary of our Constitu- tion; and in 1988 we will celebrate our 140th year of the Lincoln school sys- tem. Although, many stu- dents here at LHS feel their days are dull and ordinary , their foot- steps, often left in haste will always be remem- bered in the history of our halls. In reserving our own special place in history, we observe Mr. Springer's English class air the preamble of our Constitution over the in- tercom; Mrs. Smith erect- ing an LHS Constitution of our own so that the students could record their own piece of histo- ry; and Mr. Kinzer dress- ing in his ever famous History attire. And of course, at one time or another we all wonder what a bunny rabbit cos- tume has to do with his- tory but only Mr. Kinzer himself could answer that. OO Mflth Lucinda. Is Mrs. Farrell doing one of her ballet steps, again? Hurry up. classl Dan Anastasio is leaving you to eat his dust! Mr. Kinzer. is the modem life really all that shocking??? Donna, are Mr. Kinzer s lec- tures really all that long and boring? Deon and Brandon, caught cheating. So much for their credit. S Driver's Education and Typing are two subjects that are very different from our other subjects here at Lincoln High. Dri- ver's Ed. tries to allow us to use our new found typ- ing skills for something other than an accident report. Of course, we hope they succeed. Dri- ver's Ed. could especially help those like Susanna Leming improve their skills, but since her last ditch we are sure she has been steadily improving. Remember I Can't Drive 55.” Did anyone ever?! Well, now we don't have to worry. We can drive 65! riot only are these very helpful subjects, but they are also fun to leam. When asked what he likes best about Driver s Ed., Lynn Gage casually replied, you get to drive around and it's really cool.-' And Jennifer Jones says she likes, getting to cruise town during school. Al- though they are not al- ways fun and games, these are usually the classes in which you can relax. Sometimes, how- ever, they can be really frustating, especially when you are just leam- Does Angela dodge always sing while she's typing? ing to type. Carie Grant remem- bers the beginning of the year, I just cannot han- dle those speed drills!” But your typing errors can be easily corrected. Correcting mistakes is one of the fun parts of typing. Deon Birkes says his favorite things are, the correction tabs 'cause I use them a lot.” What other class than typing can you make critical mistakes without the teacher biting off your head, certainly not Driver's Ed. They seem to value their cars. Scott Bellamy. Vance Patrick, and Stephen hughes can't seem to take their eyes off their work. Brian Carlton is thrilled by his typing skills. Trista Bellamy takes time off from her strenuous activity to give us a BIO smile. Jacob Sullivan. Jennifer Jones. Crystal and Jennifer know how Shawn absolutely does not and Crystal Speight are having Scotty drives. But they aren't want to drive today, a great time in Driver's Ed. gonna tell Jacob! Home Ec And Agri . . . The Best In Our Lives! That's a biscuit?” asks a horrified Mrs. Stumbaugh. Well, that is the way it goes some- times. It is about like when we broke three needles in the same day. Home Ec can be really frustrating (having to rip out everything you have sewn and do it over), but it can also be a lot of fun (cooking with your friends and laughing when your muffins come out green). Agriculture is a learn- ing experience for all those who enroll in it. Whether we are studying leaves or working in shop, we learn things that will actually apply to life. If you have not ever been in Agriculture, you are missing out. What other class gets out of school to go to fairs? Cer- tainly not English! Sheila Webb tells us she likes Agri because The peo- ple in there make it fun.” Tracy Remington cleans up after Home Ec. J What s for lunch? Stir a little longer!!! Bones, Bugs, And Arithmetic WaOfr 7 5C'e,flC We have a quiz over the 40 terms in Ch. 6 to- day! Sound familiar? It should if you're in a sci- ence class. But science isn't that bad, or is it? Just because you have to memorize terms, dissect animals, and prove Dal- ton's theory, doesn't mean you hate science. Listen to what these peo- ple had to say: It's bor- ing as h—. But I guess I'll live. Charlie Dodson, Chemistry: I love it! Mr. T. makes learning fun! Carla Spencer, Physiol- ogy. ' have lesson 3.5, problems 1-39 all, ready to grade first thing to- morrow when you come to class. That sounds worse than memorizing terms for Biology. Every- one at L.M.S. has the same problems in math, as they do in science. Some students actually like Business Math fir Ge- ometry, Algebra, or Arc these girls always eating in your class Ms. Moore? J$r 7 Jr ' z r ($0 e p £ e P.E. and Health are closely related because they both teach us to take care of our bodies. P.E. is a required course this year. Why else do you think most students are taking it? Prom vol- leyball to tennis, all of these physically fit stu- dents thoroughly enjoy P.E. under the coaching of James Gregory. When asked what she enjoys most about this course, Janie Cosper replied, “I enjoy Coach Gregory's wonderful tests.” Of course some people aren't particularly inter- ested in this class. Shei- lah Moore says Sammy Biswell is always trying to be Super Sam '. Who knows........? Most students are tak- ing health just for the credit. But, think about it. Health is fun. You learn about drugs and al- cohol and how they af- fect your body, ways to say no to come ons by your boyfriend girlfriend or to strangers. How where else can you learn such interesting things as these? When asked what she liked about Health, Shelly Smith says, I like how you can say what you feel and not look stupid. What could these great athletes possibly be afraid of? Tammi Mcgaughy and Cheryl Pratt still smile after that HARD WORKOUT in P.E.I The Art Of Singing Is Choir Catch A Rising Star! Art and Choir are a very important part of Lincoln Schools, these two classes are definitely for the talented' people here at Lincoln. In Art you can learn everything from drawing trees to constructing graphic de- signs. Shelly Luna says her favorite projects in Art are pastel drawings. Chris Fashing says says he enjoys the challenge that comes with draw- ings. Chorus is getting a bunch of girls in one room and trying to get them to sing instead of gossip. Flow that IS an art. Choir is only for those dedicated to the Art of singing. The Choir went to many contests this year and came out sing- ing. Latona Maples en- joyed going to contest and competing against all of the other schools. Kim Stewart said, I en- joy having all of my friends in Choir, and singing.” ' Look what I made Mom.'' Alvie s hair is definitely a work of art. Latona Maples patiently awaits her turn to perform. 14 £ii a -4 c is a riorman Hatchett. Thomas Bond, and Shiela Webb look Positively bored. Is This Teamwork Team Says Yes” This year the 1987-88 Wolf- pack feel that they can honestly say there was an increase in teamwork. Although the record was 5-4 the team played a few very tough gams. Due to the tough playing during the game with Berryville, Bill Mattler, who played tackle, received a broken arm which resulted in him not being able to participate for the rest of the season. The overall captains for the 1987-88 year were Gary Mulse and Sammy Bis- well. When asked what he thought of the teamwork this year, Mike Summers replied, There was a lot of teamwork and I feel that this was the best team we've had as far as every- one working together. Scott Sugg felt basically the same way and replied, The teamwork was good this year because we had confidence in each other and got done what we had to do. The Intramural program has been a big hit at Lincoln. It is an alternative sports program for the students who want something to do at lunch and are not already in that sport in school. Ray Muffaker and Calvin Anastasio fre- quent the scenes of Intramural volley ball and basketball in the old gym. Mr. Thomas, who oversees our program, tells us that the most fierce competi- tors are sophomore guys. For the past two years people have been gathering at the old gym, the football field, or the baseball field between 12:10 and 12:30. They have enjoyed such sports as basketball, football, volley ball, soccer, and softball. This program is a lot of fun and is an excel- lent way to burn off those lunchroom calories. Everyone should get in- volved. What goes up. must come down. So be patient. 21 I will most remember Sr High Boys “I dunked the ball after practice and I promise before this year is over I will during a game. I will most remember how awful I played. Shawn Davis 28 Look out! Mike Summers uses his blaz- ing speed to elude defenders. It is not the sports in our life, it is the life in our sports, and here we have lots of it. Mo matter what the sport, you can find someone at Lincoln involved in it and giving it their all. We see people like Vance Patrick and Mike Summers partici- pating in all our sports, and Timmy Taylor and Calvin Anastasio are our intramural regulars. And you know the coaches get involved. It is quite evident when Coach Ad- ams stands up in the middle of a basketball game and yells. Oh me! , after the undetected foul. Of course, sports wouldn t be sports if there weren't fans to watch. Mark Babb and Sheila Webb can always be seen at any game cheering our teams on to victory just like many of the rest of you. Yes. everyone needs a chance to get out of the house and be sociable. So no mat- ter if we are on the field, court, bench, or cheering in the stands, we all enjoy the sports in our lives and the life in our sports. The Sr. high cheer- leaders have been work- ing hard this year to keep the spirit going at L.H.S. Their year started off with a new sponsor. Miss Moore. She helped orga- nize fund raisers and made sure the cheer- leaders stayed out of trou- ble. Over the summer, they went to camp in Springfield, MO. They worked very hard. So hard that they received an invi- tation to the national Cheerleading Competition in nashville, Tn. They had many fund and spirit rais- ers. From car washes to Drench the Cardinals Day. I loved cheering and doing the dances! Rhonda What I like most about cheerleading is summer practices. Getting ready for camp was the best part. There was nothing fun about camp except the MALE IMSTRUCTORS! Overall, the year has been fun. but football season was too short. Laura it was a new experience for me this year. Miss Moore was a lot of help to me. Caria What I liked best, was camp. It was really fun. I made better friends with everyone, saw some pretty sexy guys too! I liked being on top of pyramids. We asked Mike Summers what the football team says in the huddle. All he had to say was, I'm not gonna tell you because even if I did you wouldn't print it. Aah, that perks the curiosity, does it not? Of course we have spir- it even in our club activi- ties, at least until the fund raising begins. When we asked Janie Cosper about the Beta Club's fund raiser, The Dating Game , she said with a hint of her favorite tone, sarcasm, I live for things like that. But the most important cause of spirit loss isn't fund raising. It would have to be yes, that's right! Suspension School! Mow that sure blows a hole in spirit! The air was charged with excitement while everyone was waiting for the announcement of the new Queen, And the 1987-88 Home- coming Queen is ... Ladonna Franks. Ladonna was practically speechless and she excitedly replied, I'm so excited! I was so shocked! The game was a long hard fight to the end. But Farmington came out on top. The final score was 18-0. The Seniors of 88 will always re- member Ladonna's smile, KKEG's Music Machine, and losing the float contest for the first time. Ladonna Franks, the 1987 Football homecoming Queen. This year for the first year the Jr. High has partici- pated more than ever be- fore in Homecoming. Ev- ery class in Jr. High had a float entered in our Homecoming parade. The 8th grade (which supposedly rule the school) shocked us all by winning first place on their float in the Jr. High division. The 6th grade won second and last but definitely not least the 7th grade rounded it all up with third place. This year was the first year for the football players to choose the Jr. High maids. Always before the maids were chosen by their grade point aver- age. The Sr. High is very proud of the Jr. Highs participation and hope they keep up the good work (or should we say participation). When asked what she actually thought of Homecoming Kara Watson replied, I was very nervous and scared that things would not work out right, and I hope that I get the chance to be a maid again . All of the girls definitely decided on one word that could describe being a Homecoming maid. EXCITING!!!!!!! The Jr. High Kids take time out of their busy school schedule to practice for Homecoming. Remember those special times spent with friends? A few of the Seniors can do more than re- member; they have proof of life's little embarassing moments. A few Seniors were asked about their most embarassing moment and here are a few of their re- plies: Jeannie Spears remem- bers well her junior year. During one of her piano recitals, she had worn a dress that came to the center of her back and the shoulders of her dress kept fall- ing off. We all remember in the seventh grade when Andy Allen was playing in Mr. Pittman s of- fice and accidentally sparked the box of gun powder, he walked out looking like Buckwheat. Ja- nie Cosper's most embarassing moment happened her junior year at a band contest when Sherrod Ryle called the wrong command and the band split with one half going right and the other half going left. Janie says I wasn't a part of the Lincoln Band that day! . We, of course, have those really embarassing moments, too, that cannot even be printed. Motto: These Are The Times. We Will never Forget Rickey Says, All Of The New Rules! WORDS WON'T DO IT! Angels, that's what the teach- ers think of the Senior class. Brave, that s what the rest of the student body thinks about the seniors for sneaking beer cans and wine bottles in the senior pictures. And finally. Class, the seniors have definitely got it. But most of all we have memo- ries, some good and some we would like to forget. Remember when Scott Sugg mispro- nounced Money Hotchkiss in the Junior Play and mortified Paula Matthews! Remember when Rickey Harring- ton wrecked his brand new car, and then got a new chevy cava- lier. Remember when everyone turned hick . Remember not getting to dance the last dance because it was one minute after twelve at our junior prom. Remember how all of the new rules fell upon our class. The ones that told us how to walk, talk, and not oversleep in the morning for fear of being tar- dy to your first hour class. Remember how we actually learned something in our Senior English class. But memories aren't all we've had. The seniors of 88 have had good friends (Regina Lloyd and Lynne Barker), good times (graduation), and GREAT parties (Kalvin's back to school party)! WOW! Daniel Morris looks soo excited registering in the lunchroom for his final year of high school. Mrs. Farrell wants his shirt. 5 1Y CHEESE! Mike Summers. Party Gos- sip. Who's talking? Vance Patrick, Mike Summers, Tina Green, Tammy McGaughy, Susanna Leming and Mark Babb, or maybe these are the people being talked about. As you walk down LhS halls you will hear such hot topics as And what did you do this weekend? Who got caught where? Did you spend the night at Jan- ies? I can't believe I did that! There are always get togethers where the girls stay up all night watching old movies or talking about guys. A lot of the guys camp, play cards, fir go 4 wheeling. Many good times are shared. Thomas Dayberry being the gentleman that he is. helps Becki Cox walk in her long dress. 62 Timmy Taylor, Shawn Shrum, Steve Wilson, and Ryan Guth- erie look as though they are having a blast. 63 After The Bell . . . What, How, Where The lunch bell rings best friends find each other, all of the cliques begin to form, and Scott Sugg and Jerri Hudson fuse together for 30 min- utes of smooching and stuffing. Some people, like Matt Higgins, brown- bag it, while Mike Sum- mers, and a number of other souls, are brave enough to venture into the cafeteria. Then there are those like Tom Mul- vaney and Mendy Bailey, who ignore the rules of nutrition and go to the student union and grab their favorite (nonalco- holic, of course) bev- erage and some junk food. The best place to be at lunch has got to be the gym. You can watch a basketball game, intramural ac- tivities. or just sit back and relax. However students may spend their lunchtime, they are only free for 35 minutes, then the dreaded bell rings. OH NO! Time for class! Jerri Hudson and Scott Sugg are just too cute to be real. Tricia Dale looks like she s really dressed for lunch. It appears that Vance Patrick is in really deep thought. Mike Summers. Curtis Grls- com. Mark Babb, and Thom- as Dayberry always act weird after they eat in the lunchroom. - What arc Jesse Howard, Steve Shannon, and Ryan Goldman up to? QUICK! Someone tell Tommy Skelton he is about to make a serious mistake. Scott Bellamy looks as if the lunchroom food doesn't agree with him. GREAT SHOT! These boys real- ly know how to play basketball. 66 Breaking The Rules Or What? Escape attemptl Rules! What are they? Why must we obey them? A rule is an established guide for action, failure to obey the rules will re- sult in punishment, or in our case detention or suspension. There are a lot of rules to learn, some are new. and some have been around forever, like no public display of affection, other than holding hands. Some people obey this rule like Clark bailey and Shannon James, but Scott Sugg and Jer- rie Hudson could take a few les- sons. Everyday at lunch you can find them in the student union displaying affection all over the place! There are other rules like no gambling, and no tobacco, drinking, or drugs. But it never seems to fail that you can find Scott Bellamy. Chris Kincaid and Ray Muffaker sneaking a dip at lunch. There are a lot of rules about the parking lot and cars that are fairly unknown, for in- stance. did you know the speed limit on campus is 15 miles at all times. And if you violate this rule your car can be banned from campus. If you break the rules, there are two options, you can go to detention or you could be sus- pended. and get to spend a few fun filled days with Mr. Parnell. And of course you will probably be grounded by your parents. Some rules we like and most we hate, so if you don't want to be grounded or spend time with Mr. Parnell your best bet would be to stay out of trouble. (Or at least don't get caught) 67 Orr ThE TRACK The Jr. Play once again came off without a hitch, with the exception that it was untraditionally held in the second semester on January 27, 28. and 30. however, like all other plays it had its moments, like when Stacy Jones said her line Does anyone want to take a turn with us and a little boy in Elementary spoke up and said. ' I do . Or when Jason Moorman forgot his lines during the trial scene and just replied. I'm done . But even though there were a few Juniors who didn t know their parts, overall the Play was a com- plete success, even consid- ering the fact that everyone that had anything to do with the play ended up sick. But. that s par for the course. And who said that good girls don t wear black. Look at Shei- la and Joan. Since when did Lance Barker worship a stove? Liz and Susan look a if they really got into their parts during the Jr. Play this year. On A Roll, Juniors In Off The Track 68 Puttin' On The Hits Todays Styles Shelly Smith really fits in with Paula and Tom are definitely in both Bon Jovi and Coca-Cola. today's styles. The interesting styles of 87-88 can be seen coming and going down the halls of LMS. It brought along such things as Coca-Cola shirts, Levi jackets, acid washed jeans, and of course we can not forget the ever famous hair- style, the bob'. La- bamba. Tiffany, and mini- skirts returned to us the ever popular styles of the 50 s and 60 s. After a tiring day at the mall, Tina Green can be seen walking into the Closet. When she walks out empty handed, you can't help but ask her why? She replies, Cost '. Isn't that the truth, when a typical pair of jeans cost 40-50 dol- lars. Who can afford to buy anything else? Jr. Play members look like they're about ready to collapse but still having fun. Mathan West. Kalvin Newberry, and Gary Mulse look like real modem day cowboys. 69 What Would We Do Without Weekend flights? Cruising is a major passtime for LMS students, but how do they spend that time? first, they drag the square looking for any action they might find from there they drive to Row- ans, turn around, go back to the square, circle up to the gym parking lot, and back to the starting point. After burning a quarter tank of gas on this pro- cedure (and they wonder where their money goes) they first stop at the J dr S. It is time to shoot some bull, for Mike Sum- mers and Chris Kincaid, it is also time to bum a dip. On any given friday or Saturday we might find ourselves in the mid- dle of a biscuit fight. Watch out for the people who are hiding in the backs of trucks. Tammi McGaughy tells us she likes to cruise because, ' After you see who is in town, some of us get together and go dirt roading. foster s was another well known hang out. Many of us shared the disappointment when it closed. But we have no time to be sentimental, as we drive by It on the way to meet the gang. It is time to go dir- troading as it is called. We all know what that means, but be careful! Time flies when we are having fun, and if we miss our curfew one more time we will not be back next weekend!! I wonder what they could be do- ing? Deon Birkes is fixing to play some pool at fosters. OM MIKE! Does it taste that good? Isn't this against the rules?? Janie and Angelia are headed toward trouble. I Know it!! Mow sweet! Vance Patrick is just hanging out at Posters. 71 A Ak Blowing The Tops Off Of LMS Aren't you even a little curious about what the people you spend half of your life with in school like to wear, eat, and waste time doing? There are many styles and fash- ions here at LHS. Many new styles have come and gone, but the one style that never goes out of style are those 501 blues, just ask Mike Sum- mers. Pizza is definitely the hottest food selling, and for those of you who don t like pizza, then it's not recommended you go down the halls yelling it. We ve got alot of pizza lovers here at LMS. On the music front, there are many new singing groups. Tiffany, a sixteen year old singing sensa- tion. is one of the hottest artists around. Randy Travis is the rising star of country music. Me has produced such hits as Forever and ever Amen, and On the oth- er hand , hobbies are a part of our everyday ac- tivities. Anything from playing basketball, to eating to cruisin’ the town are among the LMS students favorites. Al- though the year 1988 may seem typical, it has brought along some in- teresting changes. On that night the band marched on the field as usual, and played their opening song. Devil s Can- yon. After which Mr. Allison announced over the P.A. that their second song they had been having trouble with. It ap- peared the band had always rushed the song, and the rifles weren't able to per- form as such speed. They started the song as usual and reached a speed al- most impossible for the rifles. The rifles huddled for a moment and then turned to the band and began to shoot them one by one. As the band dropped like house flies, the crowd stood in awe. After the slaughter two members played Taps. Again as usual they received a standing O'. Jason Moorman and Martin Swope strut their stuff during one of Lincolns most rememberable performances. Clark Bailey, our star trombone, and Shannon James together as usual. Two enraged rifles aim to fire at the terrified tubas, who run for cover. 83 Band Royalty JUNIOR MAID Stacy Jones escorted by Qlen Carte. JUNIOR MAID Carla Spencer escorted by Gerald Phillips. Tammy Carter- Great! I've enjoyed cheering for the team Jennifer Resley- It's been hard work, and lots of fun. Nicole Jetton- It s been fun working with everybody. Zana Carte- I've enjoyed cheerleading because we started pretty bad. but we II get better. Kara Watson- This year was alright, but I II enjoy next year much better. Cristy Pershall- It was a lot better being the oldest. It was probably one of my best years because we all got along better. Top to bottom: Cristy Pershall. Jennifer Resley. Nicole Jetton, Tammy Carter. Zana Carte. Kara Watson 94 Mow what would our Jr. High teams do without the support of their cheer- leading squad? They work on giving pep rallies, and everyone appreciates the time out of class to yell a little. They give the team members the locker signs with treats on them and hang those spirit signs in the halls. They also give up time in the summer to go to cheerleading camp so they can represent our spirit well. But we all know the incentive behind all of that work. It. has to be the fun they have, for instance, they all looked like they loved being cheerleaders when they came in out of the rain at the Berry- ville game They were soaked to the bone with their hair stuck to their faces. Yes. our cheerleaders had seen better days. What fun they must have had supporting the Jr. high football team in those miniskirts in that cool fall weather. Yes, no matter what we say about our athlete we must give credit to the Cheerleaders who never give up on their teams no matter what the weather is or what the scoreboard says. What determination that takes! Yes, even our Cheerleaders are Out- standing athletes, and we appreciate them! BETA Student Coundl Sdence Middle School Clubs 'For the trips! Deana Carr replied when asked why she was in Science Club. Whenever some- one is asked why they are in a club in school, you will hear some differ- ent answers from differ- ent people. But the most common answer to the question, especially in Middle School, is For the trips! Mo matter how many students you ask that is usually the an- swer. Every once in a while, you might get a dif- ferent one. For example, the stu- dents on Student Council have to want to work to get something good done. The whole school counts on them to get things done. They also have to be able to listen with patience. It seems this year s Student Coun- cil is doing some good, like expected. During the Thanksgiving and Christ- mas holiday they collect- ed food and presents for the less fortunate. They made the project into a contest between class. Each class got a prize for participating. First, sec- ond. or third. The Stu- dent Council has also raised money to get ceil- ing fans put in all the classrooms, to cool things off during those humid days in school. Mot only is the Student Council getting some- thing done for the Middle School, but the Science Club is pitching in to work on the appearance of the school. The club has spent quite a bit of time raising money to have some landscaping done in the front of the building. The Student Council and Science Club will not be forgotten for all the time and work they have put in to make the school a more pleasurable place to be. Student Council Top row. Left to right: S. Certainly not the stu- dents. What would we do without the secretaries that keep this place going? They do all of the paperwork, and they keep track of all the students. Sounds like a tough job, doesn't it? the coun- selors also have alot of work to do. They keep up with the stu- dent's grades and they listen to their problems. They tell us when our credits are going good, and they break it to the seniors when they need to get on the ball, and quit slacking off. They really care! Our principals are definitely the ones running the school, along with our superin- tendent, and school board. These people are in control. Without them, school would be total chaos. Last, but not least, is our brand new detention super- visor, Mr. Parnell, he takes care of those that get out of line. We all appreciate our administra- tion. Seriously, what would we do without them? Mr. Parnell is actually smiling. What's the occasion? Mrs. Cooper is always willing to help the students. This can't be real. You say to yourself. I shouldn't be getting this ring. Why. Just the other day I was riding the bus home from school, and I asked a junior if I could see his ring. Me thumped me on the head with it. Then there’s the bit about driving and getting your license. We say. ,YI can't wait until I'm six- teen and get my car. But the excitement fades off quickly when you start paying those outrageous gas bills. Next you've got the Junior Play. Al- though it takes a lot of time. Juniors cooperation, hard work, and dedication; it's definitely worth it. Who else but this Junior class would do some- thing so off the wall as to break tradition and sched- ule the play for second se- mester instead of first? And then we can t forget all the trials and tribulations of raising funds for our Prom. I'm sure all the Juniors love hearing the Seniors say over and over again, We better not have our Prom in the cafeteria. Yes. being a Ju- nior isn't always fun, but then what is? Yeah, did you see them hit Carl Yeager on the head with their class rings?” Surely at one time or another all of the Freshmen here at LMS have either felt or said some of these very same thoughts. The Fresh- men are totally in awe of how one year they can be in control of a school, and then the next they're fighting for their lives in a place where everyone rushes to class at the last minute instead of being to class on time. It’s really funny or maybe a little amazing when you see a Freshman have a nervous breakdown because he or she has not got his homework done when all of the upperclassmen never crack a book. Surely they'll leam that you don't ever do homework. Last, but not least, you can t for- get the new and interesting vo- cabulary that each and every Freshman is introduced to such as Dweeby. motorhead. righ- teous dude, and wasteoid. 115 Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eigi Josh Anastasio Susanna Anastasio Wally Asher Toni Barker Michaeline Bauer forrest Benton Stephanie Boyd Tara Bradley Renee Bullock Travis Calico Brenda Capone Dena Carr Jon Carte Zana Carte John Castleberry Chad Caswell Brent Cunningham Danya Curtis Ronnie Davis Elizabeth Dodson Peggy Dunnagan Suzanne Epps Tanya Forrester Tony fox Daniel Qaches Jim Goodman JoAnn Goodman Mellissa Goolsby Karen Gordon Darin Green Kevin Guthrie Dolan Harris Casie Hartwell Traci Hartwell Angie Hecox Tina Hecox Mike Hutchens Kyra Jahay Cherie Jewett Chris Johnson Stanley Johnson Dan Jones Julia Jones Phil Karnes Teresa Kirk Darren Kisner Jeff Lamb Hadica Leyua Lance Madewell eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Eighth Linda McAdams Jay McCarver Jeff Merry man Tonya Merryman Doug Munyon Jared Munyon Michael Musteen Qlen Morton Kristen Olson Teresa Page Molli Paine Missy Patterson Johnny Perez Mandy Pershall Christina Pettigrew Lisa Phillips Steve Phillips Jody Pinkerton Matt Pinkerton Christina Price Shelly Reed Chris Reeves Charles Roach Larrissa Roach Kevin Robinson Eddie Rose Carla Rutherford Darla Rutherford Debra Rymel Teresa Rymel Robert Schuman Rhonda Scott Charles Skelton Junior Smith JoAnne Stout Mark Taylor Steve Taylor Jerry Thurman Renee Tucker Mary Tumey Randall Tumey Jason Umberson Jeff Walton Kara Watson Jamie Wilmot Robbie Workman 117 18 Seventh Seventh Seventh Se Bridgett Anschutz Kevin Barenberg Kerri Barker Larry Behler Richard Bentley Shawn Bernhardt Bobby Boster Brian Bradley Jerrod Bradley Stephanie Brown Damon Burkhart Olivia Cagley Sharon Cochran Tami Cossey Anthony Easter Jennifer Epps Anthony Einical forrest Eox Rand Glenn Jessica hartwell Carol Mattenhauer Chris Henry Andrea Hester Tammy Hite Kellie Holcroft Henry Holliman Scott Hudson Joy Muffaker Carrie Hunton Shane Irons Jimmy Jetton Leaha Johnson Janell Kidd Robbie Koonz Ricky Kyle Liberty Layne Michelle Leming Jeremy Lewis Michael Lovejoy Kelly Maberry Amy Maloney Scott Marshall snth Seventh Seventh Seventh Matt Martin Cartita Matthews Rhonda Matthues Derk Morris Richard Mozden Robert Mozden Kristen Muise Shawna Mulvaney Johnathan Orman Scott Pace Lance Parnell Janna Reed Mandy Reed Briana Rich Steve Roach Staci Roberts Qlenna Rose Thomas Rothrock Monica Russell Lorree Rymel Myla Skaggs Clint Smith Dayla Smith Shawn Smith Michael Speight Travis Sugg Chris Veal John Vinson Priscilla Watts Phillip Wisdom Marla Wright Cathie Yeager Mot pictured Bonni Brown Sixth Sixth Sixth Sixth Sixth Sixth Sixth Sixth Greg Albright Stacey Barton Benjimin Behler Clifton Bradshaw Julie Brown Sherry Bullard Cindy Capps Charles Carte Aaron Cheatham Isle Chung Billy Cochran Amanda Comer Bridgett Cooper Karlan Cousins Wayde Cousins Michael Cox Amy Crouse Stefanie Denton Leah Edwards Keith Elmore William Emery Keisha Gaches J.C.
