Brought to you by the Lincoln High School Journalism Class Volume 33 of Wolf Tracks ....Academics ........Sports .........Clubs ....Elementary Advertisements Lincoln High School School Street Lincoln, Arkansas 72744 Editor: Marla Thomas Co-Editor: Sandra Owen We are starting a new decade. The end of the seventies coincides with the conclusion of our academic career. We have gathered a review of the songs we grew up listening to because we realize that besides school, music is probably the biggest influence in a teenager’s life. Hopefully each title will help you to recall a special memory or an experience. With this in mind we proudly present the 1979-80 edition of Wolf Tracks . . . I Don’t Like Spiders and Jim Stafford Snakes” 6 Homecoming 1979 ,STfi 50 .°me m o 1 MIN-SEC I □ □□ QTR Lj Homecoming festivities at L. H. During this time she has been both a teacher and a friend to the students in her classes. Mrs. Farrell takes an interest in her students and really wants them to learn. Her interesting personality, original ideas and sense of humor have made Sophomore English classes a pleasure to attend. Under conditions contrary to change, Mrs. Farrell has made improvements in the journalism department. For giving us encouragement, advice and most of all friendship, the Annual Staff, with great esteem, dedicates the 1979-80 WOLF TRACKS to Mrs. Carolyn Farrell . . . . . . a friend. 12 9 y . astc x z i ert'.' y Ma o ri' cuu c3 3 .' Senior Memories During their last year at LHS several outstanding seniors left their tracks in our memories, and into the future. Among our seniors are Charlie Delap, who played football and who will go on to college and play. Also there is Yvonne Pendergraft with her high grades, who will be a success at whatever she does. Their road has been a long and hard one, eleven years of school, and all the memories that go with them too. Things like the Little Abner play with Ben White and Leon Smith. Cheerleaders like Tina Rock Cheryl Buchanan, leading us in school spirit. Working on the senior float. One of the highlights of course was Carrie Huffaker being crowned as Homecoming queen. There are also all the other seniors which added their memories to the rest of their classmates . . . during their last year at L. H. S. Randy Ryan Missy Miller Mr. and Miss L. H. They realized that a study of sciences can benefit all. not only the future chemist, doctor, or physicist. Dissecting a rat, a somewhat eerie experience, led to a better understanding of our own organisms. The science department, in seeking to broaden a students’ outlook on life through know- ledge, gave them an understanding about our complex world. This required courses consist of. General and Physical Science, Biology, Advanced Biology, and Chemistry. Dissecting an Earthworm? Uck 53 Home Economics and Agriculture Preparing us for our Futures Where Do I Go From Here?” Barry Manilow “U s so Easy” Linda Ronstadt Homc-Ec. can really help prepare you for your future. Senior Boys Basketball The Senior Boys started the season with only three returning lettermen and while this gave the team a good nucleus to start from, the remainder of the players counted on to fill starting roles were almost all sophomores. Also the team faced the toughest schedule ever with 5 non-conference games against AAA and AAAA schools. With two games remaining, the team has responded far better than many had hoped with a 17-8 over-all record. At this time the boys are in third place in District 1-AA West despite being picked in sixth before the season started. The boys finished second in both the Bi-County Tournament and the Northwest Arkansas Classic. In the five games against higher classification teams, the boys won four, defeating Bentonville and Siloam Springs once each and beating class AAAA Rogers twice. Jason Tennant and Lee McLean were named all-tournament at the Bi-County Tournament and Tennant and Charlie Delap were named all-tournament at the Northwest Arkansas Classic. Tennant also set a school scoring record pouring in 47 points against Westville, Oklahoma. This year Lincoln has a new Program for trainable mentally retarded students. The TMR program was set up to provide the education the law requires the school to give. The state encourages this by giving $8000 towards the teacher’s salary. The teacher, Mrs. Pittman, is as well qualified as the instructors at Richardson Center, where the students previously attended. Last year Lincoln sent eight students and this year the cost would have been apiece. The decided they could build a new TMR building for less than that amount. Lincolns TMR capacity is 12 to 15 students. This year the; have four, but Mr. Whiley says he is glad the; have the facilities for more if needed. The idea behind a TMR program is to teach trainable mentally retarded how to take cared' themselves. The curriculem centers around se: help, self care and communitive skills so the students don’t have to be totally dependent oe others. For example, Mrs. Pittman is planning to teach them some basic cooking. Each student has a cleaning chore in the class room. 128 Cooks Custodians and Bus Drivers Tak'in Care of Business” Got To Serve Somebody (Bob Dylan) COOKS Top row: Dorthy Leming, Lois Kinion.
