It’s strange to think we soon will part. We, that have been so close for so long. Twelve years of our lives were spent together. But now we will go our separate ways. With the names and faces of many, slipping away. But as we go, we will walk away with one of lifes’ most precious gifts-memories. Yes, we will have our memories to dwell on forever. My only wish is that your high school memories will be as exciting, as entertaining and as touch- ing, as mine. If so we will all be wealthy in our ripe age, for memories to the aged are as diamonds to the young. To be successful as a team you need to have a group of people who all share the same common drive in attaining a common goal. I feel this was true with the 7th grade football team. It does not necessarily take a larger number of people to reach a goal, but purposefulness among the ones you do have. This undefeated team deserves much credit for the hard work put forth, and they now have a memory they can cherish the rest of their lives. The) won green, two whites, and a red ribbon. On the firs day of competition they won a Spirit Stick. This year to try and raise money, They sold Iron-ons and Lin- coln Wolves pennants. They also held a Rummage Sale. They bought new uniforms with this money. Majorettes Standing: Patsy McAdams, Susan Hayden — Captain, Penny Parkins, Tracy Hayden Sitting: Missy Miller, Karen Posey Co-Captain, Tami Hall The Lincoln Highschool Majorettes for 1977-78 were very active. During the summer they attended camp at the U. of A. They held practices twice a week. They held bake sales and car washes to help raise money for new uniforms and boots. They twirled at football games, pep rallies, and the two contests that the band entered Each girl was feature twirler at a ball game or contest. As a special treat for homecoming (at both Lincoln and Prairie Grove) they twirled with fire batons. We'd like to congratulate the girls on a well done job. 55 Senior Girls Basketball — Teri Huttaker Forward Lisa Parker Forward Kathy Seward Forward Cindy Prince Guard Michelle Wood lee Guard Jeri Huffaker Forward Senior High Girls Basketball Pam Christain Forward Robin McReynolds Forward Sherry Schooler Guard Kathy Lemons Guard Lindy McKelvy Guard Cindy Yancey Manager Head Coach — Donnie Smith Assistant Coach — Mary Frances Daugherty 57 Senior Girls Basketball The Senior Girls accomplished many of their goals and set or tied several records this year. The girls were runners up in both the Bi-County and Dist. 1 -AA tournaments and tied the school record of 20 wins set last year. Their goal of winning more than 20 games might easily have been reached except for the cancellation of several games due to bad weather, including the entire Greenland tournament in which they were the 1 needed team. It was a year of firsts as the girls became the first girls team in Lincoln history to qualify for the State tournament. The girls defeated Waldron 79-72 and Corning 55-42, before losing to State-runner-up Parkin in the quarter- finals. The 79 points against Waldron set a class AA State Tournament scoring record. Kathy Seward became the first girl from Lincoln to be named to the All-State team. The girls were also the first conference team to defeat West Fork in the five years the Tigerettes have been in Dist. 1-AA. Another first was defeating arch-rival Prairie Grove four times in one season. The leadership provided by Sr. forwards Teri Huffaker, Lisa Parker, and Kathy Seward, and Sr. guards Cindy Prince and Michelle Woodlee was the key to the success of the team. They made up for this with hustle, team-work and a desire to improve. Their record of 8-12 surpassed what many had expected as both the non-conference and conference schedule was tougher than it had been for several years. Highlights of the season were defeating arch-rival Prairie Grove both times for the second year in a row; defeating a highly favored Pea Ridge team 49—46, and defeating Gravette 54—45 to finish ahead of the Lions in the conference and higher than predicted in the conference stand- ings. As a measure of their determination, the Wolves lost by only 47-51 to conference champion Green Forest, a team which did not lose a conference game. Jr. Rick Neal was named to the 1 -AA All District team. Srs. Steve Schaefer and Marvin Risley and Soph. The Lincoln Jr. boys were playing without any experienced returning let- termen and youth and inexperience forced the team to work harder to achieve any degree of success. The young players learned quickly and had a great attitude toward the sport. Their genuine desire to excell combined with many decided leaders with pay off for the team in the future. Their attitude made it a pleasure for me to be associated with them. Going to Girl State and Boy State was a very exciting honor that we will remember the rest of our lives. We met many new friends and learned how important it is socialize. Many top Arkansas officials were there giving talks on Arkansas Government. They actually made learning about how our state is run interesting. I'm sure we only learned about half of all they said, but we had fun doing it! In between lectures we did things like throw our counselors in the shower, wake up everyone on our floor at 2:00 in the morning, get up in the middle of the night to have soap-sud slides, mobbed the canteen and wrote a lot of letters Girls State and Boy State only last a short week but we will continuously be learning because of it, and will use the experience we received there the rest of our lives. 90 Mary lane Biswell William Mclver Bill Nation Thelma Nichols Cathy Small Jacque Allen First Grade r a kM Ruth Andrews Fourth Grade jacqueline Bottoms Sixth Grade Linda Carte First Grade Sheila Crane Third Grade Beverly Crudup Fourth Grade Connie Davidson Special Ed.
