Johnny Wisdom, Joyce A new face at L.H.S. during the 1969-70 school term was that of Mrs. Yvonne Samples, secretary to the superintendent. She has been a secretary for 13 years and was the secretary to the superintendent of schools in Clovis, New Mexico, for 2 years before moving to Lincoln. In addition to being Mr. Evans' per- sonal secretary, she does the school's bookwork and payroll. Mrs. Samples is the wife of an electrician, the mother of two, and is an avid fan of water skiing. Mrs. Wanda Hawks, another new face at Lincoln Schools, is secretary to the principal of the high school. Mrs. Hawks pre- viously was employed by the U.S. Government in several civil service jobs and has been a sec- retary for 16 years. Although she previously worked with adult ed- ucation students, she finds work- ing on the high school level very interesting and stimulating. The wife of a retired sergeant mqjor. she is the mother of three and grandmother of one. A familiar face to elemen- tary students is that of Mrs. Ellen Freedle, secretary’ to the grade- school principal. She has served in this rapacity for three years. She is a long-time -resident of Lincoln and a graduate of Lin- coln High School. Mrs. Freedle is active in all phases of school activities, and has served as Presi- dent of the P.T.A. Chapter. Her husband is employed at the Soutliwestern Power and Electric Company, and she is the mother of two. The cam putt of Lincoln Schools is maintained by the three men pictured here. They work in different shifts to keep our school looking its best. We appreciate their effort. I.eft to right, they are pictured: Byron Bridges, William Rock, and Bill Withers. The cooks of Lincoln Schools receive little apprecia- tion. However, they do their best to turn out a meal for three to four hundred students every day. in addition to extra work, such as banquets. Pictured from left to right, they are: McCamish. V; Dan forth. D.; Mefford. M.; McCamish, 0.: Freeman. V.; Al- bright. L.; and Moore. M. The bus drivers of our school risk life and limb to deliv- er the students to and from school. They give of their time to provide transportation for special events such as out of town ball- games and class parties. Carol is a senior and will gradu- ate with a 3.00 grade point. She was horn at Cincinati, Ark- ansas, and attended Siloani Spring Schools until the eighth grade, when she transferred to L.H.S. Carol comes from a large family and lives on a farm where she helps with all the work. She enjoys sewing, cooking, hiking, and is a member of the First Baptist Church at Summers. She has shown much school spirit and helps support her class in all its ventures. While still undecided about her fu- ture, at present she plans to attend the University of Ark- ansas and major in business. Carol is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barnes of Sum- mers, Arkansas. 69 HOMECOMING JOYCE PHARR QUEEN Joyce Pharr was- elected this year’s Homecoming Queen. She is an active mem- ber of the Beta Club and main- tains a 3.5 average. She is the 70 assistant pianist at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln. Joyce is very popular with the under- classmen as well as everyone else. She always offers help when needed and this is one of the many reasons she was also elected Miss L.H.S. Some of her activities include basketball, office work, and serving on the Student Council. Joyce is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pharr. JUNIOR Hetty Tucker SOPHOMORE Kathy Colburn 1970 HOMECOMING COURT FRESHMAN Rcba Snodgrass SEVENTH GRADE Denise Biggs not pictured: EIGHTH GRADE Diana Griffith 1970 HIGH SCHOOL HALLOWEEN ROYALTY JACKIE BLY-JUNE BIRCH The 1969-70 Halloween Royalty was elected this year by a school population who voiced their overwhelming ad- miration of June Birch and Jack Bly. Both are seniors with 72 a wonderful future ahead of them. June has been a Lincoln student all her school life and is active in all phases of school activities as is well evidenced by her being captain of the cheerleading squad. Jackie transferred to Lincoln from Texas at the beginning of his junior year. Their loss was certainly our gain in sports and school spirit. One can’t help but like Jack because of his winning smile and quick wit. 1970 GRADE SCHOOL HALLOWTEN ROYALTY RANDYJOHNSON-LAURA McGOODWIN The elementary students at Lincoln are proud to present their Halloween King and Queen, Miss Laura McGoodwin and Master Kandy Johnson. They were elected after almost a month of zealous competition between grades one through six. Each room elected two representatives and then worked to earn money for them. Each penny raised counted as one vote, and such events as hake sales, cake walks, and raffles were a common sight during October. The month culminated with the announcement that the sixth grade won with the the largest sum of money, which was later used to pur- chase items for their schoolroom. 73 1970 F. H.A BEAU F.F.A. SWEETHEART BARBARA JETTON - DAVE ALLISON The FHA girls present David Allison as their 1970 beau, and the FFA boys pre- sent Barbara Jetton as their 1970 sweetheart. Barbara is neatly dressed and well blessed by nature. Possibly this is the reason for her being chosen as 74 FFA sweetheart a second time. She also has given numerous singing performances, has been elected to other positions of honor and recognition, and has maintained her standing as a good student. David is a senior who participates in all sports and does so quite capably. He was elected Most Valuable Player in the Bi-county Tournament in December of 1969. Taking an active interest in student affairs during his junior year, he served on the student council. David's most outstand- ing trait, though, is his affable personality. He treats everyone as a close friend, and always greets them with a sunny dis- position. 1970 MR. MISS L.H.S JOYCE PHARR-RICKY REED Joyce Pharr represents the epitome of what the L.H.S. student considers its finest fe- male student. She has numer- ous honors and all are well deserved. Ricky Reed has been chosen to represent L.H.S. as its finest male student. He has been active all through his high school years. He plays football, basketball, and was Mr. L.H.S. Junior High in his freshman year. Rick has served as a class officer, an F.F.A. member, Demolay member, and is active in church and community development. 75 First How: Osborn, T.; Cuzick, M.; Glidewell, B.; Second How: King, D.; Prince, J.; McDonald, T.; Skaggs, K.; Pharr, M.; Thomas, G.; Buckle, F.; Thompson, B.; Bly, J.; Third How: Coach Jack Brown; Cox, D.; Morris, J.; Maloney, W.; Heed, R.; Cuzick, M.; Allison, D.; Moore, R.; Barker, J.; Prince, K.; Risley, E.; Myers, L.; Assistant Coach Randall Spear. He is known in the band room for his quick temper, spontane- ous humor, and unfailing for- giveness. His favorite subject is the lark of our musical mental- ity.
