— E.S.L. English as a Second Language is a language arts class designed for students whose home native language is not English. E.S.L. emphasizes conversation, composition, grammer and comprehension — all the phases of communication North American style. Magnet The magnet program is an enrichment program in the arts, music, dance, drama and arts. The program provides federal funds for field trips, equipment and supplies. One of the most valuable aspects of the program is its hiring of professional artists in these areas to teach in our school making students aware of career opportunities in the arts. 25

Work Training The work training program offers students a chance to experience the real business world. The students are paid by the program itself, not the employers. This program is funded by CETA alleviate youth unemployment, especially in minorities. Student Directed Student Directed was created several years ago with Lincoln's choice not chance program. Students may take classes rangning from Language Arts and Social Studies requirements to Dream Analysis and Speed Reading. Credits are earned either by being under individual contract and fulfilling its particular obligations or by meeting the requirements of a group class.

Media Center Dedicated business education students organize, operate, and supervise the media center in the main hall. Over 1,000,000 copies of instructional materials are produced monthly by these qualified key operators, after in-service training at Xerox. In the class, key operators learn business operation, dealing with all kinds of people and requests, organization, and efficiency to most usefully serve the instructional copying needs of Lincoln's staff. Work Experience The difference between the Work Experience program and Work Training program is that the students are paid by their employers. Jobs for the work experience program are often suggested or arranged for by Mr. Renshaw, the work experience coordinator. 26
