Certainly we know that we've become better citizens because we proved that time and again. We proved it at Halloween and during the football and baskeb ball seasons. And there's proof in the fact that we're showing greater pride in the school--we keep the building and grounds cleanen These and many other accomplishments bring us the satisfaction of knowing one year's job has been well done. Now we can turn to the summer vacation with no regrets but with eagerness to make a good job of the summer whether it be work or play or a mixture of the two. Y riff ,. R syww

FROM MR PFAFF The 1950 Totem Staff has chosen Vacations for its theme. The theme is unusual but appropriate. Vacation suggests a release from routine, from authority, and from work. It is a time for relaxation, recovery, renewal of energy, the breaking of old ties, and the making of new friends. At the same time it is a period for assimilating what one has learnedg it is an opportunity to test one's own powers of initia- tive, self direction, and self discipline. During the summer, some high school students experience play pri marilyg others, workg but many are wise enough to so apportion their time that they experience both. As a result, they are not only re freshed by their vacations but also enriched by their experiences The money that they have earned helps to finance their school activ- ities and to make it possible for them to participate in school af- fairs, their experiences, to become mature people.
