The junior high schools we migrated from were Pearl C. Anderson and James Madison. Some of us go back as far as elementary school together. No doubt many of the class mates have been together since kindergarten. We entered Lincoln High School in August of 1971, fresh as a daisy. Our class was the first freshman class to be bused to Lincoln when the issue of desegration came about. Some of us didn't mind that! At this time we were under the leadership of our class officers: President: Susie Jones Vice President: Robert Webster We had two ofour classmates to make their debut as varsity cheerleaders. These young ladies were Lee Esther Giddings, and Marilyn Lacy. We had only just begun. Then came our sophomore year which we bloomed into like roses in the spring, gradually. Some of the same faces were seen again as we placed our vote at the poll for sophomore officers: President: Robert Webster Vice President: Susie Jones For our Class trip we attended Six Flags over Texas. If one looks for school spirit among the sophomores, you can't overlook the fact that two new varsity cheerleaders made their debut this year. They were Myra Grimes and Joyce Collier. Time passes slowly and all of a sudden we explode. For now we are juniors. Like plants in photosyn- thesis reach for the sun we too as juniors were grasping for a higher degree of fulfilment. There was no shifting of officers as we elected our junior officers: President: Robert Webster Vice President: Susie Jones We designated a week for ourselves, Junior Week , in which we as a whole dressed alike on certain days. Like birds of a feather we flocked together. The highest point of our Junior year was when our own Tommy Tuna-fish IVIcCaIl won the 880 state title from Alvin Crenshaw, a winner of this title for 2 years. To coincide with the Women's Lib trend the girls track team, anchored by our own Lee Esther Giddings, also won a state title. They had the best time in the state for the mile relay. No matter how hard you try, you can't stop us now. Hallelujah! Seniors! We've finally reached the apex of our scholastic struggle. We overcame. We scaled the mountain of book reports, term papers, and civics! Again we go to the polls to vote. The election returns are back, new faces! President: Larry Belcher, Vice pres.: Tommy McCall,Sec.:Brenda Lyons, Treas: Julia Roberson, Reporter: Brenda Nlanoy. I am proud to announce that our class is the first to present A Mini-Convocation , a program honoring the black news media. Our first senior activity was a Pizza Party followed by a Halloween, Valentine, and Skating party. A tremendous performance of the Senior play cast was displayed as they presented Five on the Black Hand Side. The basketball team has successfully won the district 11-AAAA title of District Champs for the past two years. The varsity track team has captured the 11-AAAA title and the girls track team was the 11-AAAA champs.
