It is a great privilege and pleasure to welcome you all here this afternoon to our Commencement exercises. We cannot express in the word welcome our sincere appreciation of your interest in us which has brought you here this afternoon. We trust that you will feel the depth of its meaning as we proceed with the program. In trying to find Words to express our hearty welcome, something comes to me of what Tennyson had in his heart when he wrote, I would that my tongue could utter the thoughts that arise in me. Let us consider for a moment the real meaning of this little word welcome , It represents well come . So this afternoon, we hope that you are well, We see that you have come, and we know that you are welcome. Dear parents and friends, we feel a thrilling joy to have you with us today for We are deeply grateful for your support and loyalty which has given us courage and confidence to overcome the obstacles which have impeded our progress. To us it is a most important period, it is one of the large stepping stones to success, and its memories will remain with us. Whatever institutions of learning from which we may graduate in later years, none will have the lasting impression that this, our graduation from Lincoln High School, will have. After today we go forth to take our places in the great world. Dear relatives, who have come, perhaps long distances, especially to see our graduation, we bid you a hearty welcome. We appreciate your coming and hope that none of you will be disappointed in our efforts this afternoon.
