Our aim has been to pro- mote debating and public speaking, that it might be a means of helping its members acquire the ability of clearly and adequately expressing them- selves in public. The Lincoln High School recognizes this as one of the important activities of high school training. The club has also served as a stimulus to the students to attain greater scholarship, since its members must have an average grade of not less than B , This organization fosters an annual formal banquet, oratory, debating, and other social and scholastic activities. In the past the Open Forum Society has been an asset to our school and 'has become the most active and prominent of the school clubs. A large part of our success is due to the work of our able director, Mr. New- man, and to the club officers which are: Deral Farr, Presidentg Alene Holdaway, Vice-Presidentg and Donna Madsen, Secretary-Treasurer. Secretary-Treasurer Vera Conder .......... ................ C heer Leader HIS year marks the organization of the first pep club ever establish- ed in the Lincoln High School. The Tigerette Club has been one of the most active of all the clubs, and its success is expected to advance with the school. ' Miss Fern Jude is largely responsible for its success, having organ- ized it and having been its chief advisor throughout the year. Several stunts were put on in assemblies by the members of the Tiger- ettes, and at every basketball game, they were represented and gave spe- cial drills, stunts, and yells. In the past year basketball was especially sponsored by these girls, but this is only the beginning for the activities of the club, and next year all athletics are expected to be as fully advertized and represented as was basketball this year. The Tigerette girls have had very able leaders at their head, and what is just as important, the leaders have had the entire support of the club to carry out their plans and also the interest of the 'student body. The Dramatic Art club has been increased to almost twice the membership of last year. Before anything is accomplished We must first have a desire and an interest in that particular thing. This is especially true of Drama- tic Art and the purpose of the club is to develop an interest in this line and encourage students to take part in all things pertaining to the subject in the school. During the year we have had several readers from the B. Y. Univer- sity read plays at Lincoln. These plays were thoroughly studied and all were presented in a very creditable way. All students interested were allowed to hear the plays read and aside from receiving an hour of enjoy- ment those attending gained many new ideas and helps in their own work. Each play was discussed in the Oral Expression classes and all students were asked to give criticisms good, or bad which they noticed. Competition for parts in the school play was very keen and resulted in one of the best school plays ever presented in the Lincoln High School. A large majority of the cast were from the Dramatic Art club. The aim of the club is high, its ideals good and therefore success is certain.
