Louise was very charming as. the Princess of Leilani. Virginia Peter- son as Kuulei, a favorite of the princess, did very creditable Work. Ruby Olsen as Maile the Sorceress was outstanding in character Work. Virginia ,Se Clinger as Kealoha the Little Sister thrilled her audience with spirit that characterized her part. Musical giregor if i ' gg . 0 0 if E VERY student in the Lincoln High School should feel justly proud of the music department after the capable way in which they handled the opera this year. The opera The Two Vagabondsf' taken from the royalist opera Er- rninie , is the most difficult production ever stag-ed in the school. 0 0 0 0 , fi This is the first year the opera has been competitive, and also the first 35 time awards have been given to the cast. Many tried out and an excellent I ' cast of fifteen of the most talented students were chosen. ' 0 lg Due to the illness of Professor Booth, the music was directed' by Anna 3 S. Hinckley, and the staging by Miss Jude. Much credit is due these two capable teachers for the success of the opera. Professor Robertson and students from the B. Y. U. composed the orchestra and were excellent. We are indeed proud of our 'opera cast this year. Inez as Erminie thrilled her audience with each appearance. The Dream Song and Lullaby will n-ever be forgotten. Herbert as.'Eugene did himself proud and was surely typical of his part. Too much cannot be said concerning the clever manner in which Virginia played the role of Javotte. Simon, her lover, played by Don Elliott, was well acted. The two Vagabonds, West and Dean, were a scream. Little did we realize we had two such comedians in the 6 'X school. Merl as Marie was charming, as also was Alene as Cerise. Kenner 'YI as Marquis did very splendid work. Carl Fielding as Chevelier was ex- 422 ceptional f Just as you say l. Don Holdaway as Ernest played his part well, while Carl Andreason as Captain, and Harold Maag, his lieutenant 1 were outstanding. Will we ever forget Cleo as the Princess? Oh how o o I nice J.
