The Lincoln High School Senior Class of Thief River Falls, Minnesota presents the 1950 Paawlw - 7aMe,afGanfenlii I PRESENTATION 1 DEDICATION Z THEME 4 ADMINISTRATION 5 STUDENTS 11 ATHLETICS 31 3 ORGANIZATIONS 57 Q FEATURE 79 0116 To the memory of our beloved friend and classmate, jerry Rasmussen, we, the Prowler Staff, dedicate the 1950 Prowler. jerry passed away in july, 1949, after a long illness. He left school during the first semester of his junior year to undergo a series of major operations. In the spring of 1949 jerry returned to school to take his exams and thereby qualified as a senior. V. As a student in Lincoln High School, Reiss was one of the most popular and active boys in his class. He participated in basketball and football and was elected co-captain of thc 1949-50 football team. jerry also served as class president in both his sophomore and junior years. Although all the students regret Ierry's death, most of all the Senior Class of 1950, his class, has missed his presence in the halls and classrooms of Lincoln. Strike, spares, and scores were the subject of conversa- tion for several weeks in mid-winter as G.A.A. bowling season began. Zona Hendrickson headed this sport for the second year, having charge of making out schedules and keeping track of scores. Classes for beginners were held in the old gym at the commencement of the sea- son to teach scoring and form. VVith over 60 performances to their credit, the Lincoln Iligh School band climaxed a very 1 successful season under the direction of Mr. Robert Harmon. Commencing with a 35 piece band in September, hir. Harmon, through an SHARPS AND FI-ATS AT A PEP FEST extensive instrumental instruction schedule, in- creased the number to 55 by contest time. ' .Almost every day, sunny or otherwise, the band could be seen on the football Held going through lntricate formations, practicing counter marches, left Hanks, and about faces. Throughout the football season the band played at the home games and presented marching shows during the halves. The 'fflashlight parade was the bands contribution to the success of homecoming. Presented dur- ing the half of the Spoiler- Prowler game, the show featured various formations, singing, and marching music - all done in total darkness except for twinkling flashlights. As a reward for efforts during the football season the band traveled to East Grand Forks for that game. The band was on hand to plav for all the home basketball games and during the haH of the Bemidji- Prowler game they presented the hat show, featuring hat formations while playing appropriate melodies and an imitation of Nferidith Wilsori and his talking people. Appointed the official regional band, they gave this show during the half of the championship game. In addition to playing for school events the band has been active in community aifairs. Concerts were played for sportsmen's bangiet, Boy Scout Court of Honor, and PTA convention. They also did their share in the Community hest Drive, playing marches from a truck two evenings of the drive. In conjunction with the chorus the animal sprin concert was presented March 12. A varied pro- giam was offered including, Hlfxroica Overture, 'Bess of St. Marys, and a variety number, Little ed Riding Hood. Cornet trio composed of Marvin Hage, Vern McMahon, and Gene Bratsch played '4F1irtations and a saxophone duet, Darleen Solheim, and Iune Barstad, played 'fSolette accompanied by the band. On April Z9 the band participated in the district music contest at Crookston. HLandsighting Over-V ture was the contest piece this year. Seven ensembles and twelve soloists competed for the A rating needed to enter the regional festival at Thief River Falls. Losing only eleven seniors by gratuation the outlook for the band for 195051 is very good.
