Lincoln was off. Others said Hmmm, when the cagers came home as regional and sec tional champs. Then the tension and questions really began?: Do you really think it could happen? What is the name of their coafl' again? Are they a tough team? How large is the school? ' Everyone was but all Q 0 and a team that it was really a set And suddenly we were there . S tu de n ts were still rubbing black, and blue marks where they had been pinching themselves to assure themselves that Lincoln High School was really a part of the i959 State Basketball Championship Tour- nament. Lincolnites hitched up their belts, took a deep breath, and said, This is it so let's give it all we've got! Shakers were waving wildly, the band played on, and the Comet cheerleaders gave an extra flourish to each cheer. But suddenly there was a hush. How could we ever conquer Kimberly? Drib- ble, iump, swish, flash--Lincoln 82, Kim- berly 81. That's what it said. We had wonl Now they started calling us names like the Cinderella team of the tournament. Well, anybody that knows anything about Cinderalla knows that she had to be retty sharp in the beginningto ever catch that prince. However, the Comets' slippers fit perfectly and you have never seen such beautiful dancing down a basketball court. What a ball! Rapidly the big moment approached. Then a whistle, a horn.
