1 ilu Hlvmnriam Sam Baudo Carol De Grand Iames Knuth SAM BAUDO Sam Baudo, born August 25, 1981 in Mil- waukee, died October 8, 1948 at the age of 17 years. The tragic misfortune of accidental death brought grief to Sam's family and his friends. He attended Palmer Street School, and later entered Cass Street School from which he entered Lincoln to follow the Elective Course. While at Lincoln, Sam was the manager of the basketball and football teams, and also a member of the Corridor Control. He was jovial and carefree, and his face wreathed in smiles, he was a welcome guest wherever he went. He had many friends who were sorry to say a last goodbye at the funeral services held on October ll, IAMES KNUTH The accident of October 8, 1948 cut short the life of lames Knuth at a time when his life should have just begun. However, for all those who once knew him, his personality is still present because his friends cannot forget. lames received his early training at the Cass Street School He later attended Lincoln where he intended to graduate in lanuary, 1950, from the Elective Course. He took part in many school activities. He won his place on Varsity Football and Basket- ball Teams, and was also a member of the Corridor Control. Ioseph Zappia CAROL DeGRAND Carol DeGrand, who had not yet reached the age of 18, was killed on October 8, 1948, in an unfortunate accident. During his years at Lincoln he followed the Science Course, from which he would have graduated an honor student. He intended to graduate in lanuary, 1949. The boys and coaches on the football team will attest to Carol's spirit, loyalty, and will- ingness to play the game , however, his quiet disposition and dignified humor did not pre- vent him from being popular with his fellows, for Carol was known throughout the school as a boy who possessed outstanding qualities in his studies. lOSEPH ZAPPIA loseph Zappia, a student of Lincoln High School, died on October 8, l948. Memorial services were held for loseph and his fellow classmates in the Lincoln Auditorium on Oc- tober 14, 1948. He was very active in school, he played basketball, football, and was assistant-sports editor of the Quill Annual. He played on the baseball and basketball teams at the Boys' Club. loe's curly hair, winning smile, and ability to work will linger in the memories of all those who knew him.
