Head ot the Milwaukee schools since l943, he Was educated in the Ripon schools, he took his undergraduate Work at Ripon College, and did graduate Work at the University ot Wisconsin Where he received his master's degree. Other graduate work in education was done at Harvard and Colum- bia Universities. Mr. Goodrich had a positive, sincere belief in education for every child who was entered into the public schools. He emphasized numberless times that the role of the high school was not only preparing students tor college, but training all students for lite, he believed they should be steered in the paths ot usetul citizenship. He had the weltare ot the school child always upper- most in his considerations, and for that he earned the respect of the corn- munity. 9

Sin Hiemnriam MR. IOSEPH H. BAKER Mr. Ioseph H. Baker, first principal of Lin- coln High School, died November 15, 1948. Memorial services were held for Mr. Baker in the Lincoln High School Library on November 19, 1948. At the ceremony, attended by mem- bers of the taculty and by many former Lin- colnites, Mr. Bakers portrait was unveiled. Mr. Baker was born in Stevens Point and attended Stevens Point Normal School and the University ot Wisconsin. He taught at a Madi- son High School and at Merrill, Wisconsin. He taught physics at the old East Division High School betore he became principal ot Lincoln High School when it moved into the old East High building in 1920. He became principal ot Sharon High School after he lett Milwaukee, Following his retire- ment as high school principal, he became school board clerk and village board president. Mr. Bakers unseltishness and integrity ac- count tor the tact that he was admired by all who knew him. He will long be remembered by the alumni and teachers who had the hon- or ot associating with him. 1 Mrs. McNally Miss Reynolds Miss McQueeney Miss Zenk MRS. MAUD MCNALLY One ot Lincoln's former English teachers, Mrs. Maud McNally, died in August 1948. She was a graduate ot Monticello Seminary at Godfrey, Illinois, and did post graduate work at Marquette, the University ot Wisconsin Ex- tension, Northwestern in Chicago, and at Co- lumbia. MISS FRIEDA R. REYNOLDS Miss Frieda R. Reynolds, retired head ot the English department at Lincoln High, died February 16, 1949, atter a long illness. She attended Milwaukee Downer College and was graduated from the University ot Michigan, she took postgraduate courses at Columbia University. Throughout her years ot service she was an inspiration and triend to all ot the people who worked with her. MISS MABEL MCOUEENEY Miss Mabel McOueeney, a tormer teacher ot Lincoln High School, died Tuesday, October 19, 1948. Miss McOueeney, a graduate ot Mil- waukee State Teachers College, taught tor two years in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and Keno- sha, Wisconsin. MISS MARTHA ZENK Miss Martha Zenk, one of our outstanding teachers who had been with our school since 1920, died in Eureka, South Dakota, at the home ot her brother on Monday, October 25, 1948. Miss Zenk was dean ot girls at Lincoln and taught in the mathematics department. She had a high regard tor scholarship and was chairman ot the Honor Society committee.
