In 'XJ ,. J s WAV flwwkr if ,nw V Il0l The Library -Now The lihrary has moved from its little corner in the assemhly of the old huildingu to a spacious room of its own. A handsome and eflicient desk is flanked hy rows of hook' cases, and hundreds of hooks are at the disposal of all students throughout the day. New hooks are added each year, and the magazine supply is generous and varied, We have, in' deed, come a long, long way from the day when Ahraham Lincoln walked twenty miles to horrow a hook. The Present Shops Our new shops are a craftsmanis paradise. Tool racks covered with multitudes of ethcif ently arranged tools of the highest quality, an inexhaustihle supply of selected lumher. and many machines are availahle. Vkfoodworking is not the only opportunity our shops oifer. for there is the extensive and fully equipped metal shop extending instruction in metal working and autoinohile mechanics: there is also the junior woodworking shop otfering work in ceramics and electrical mechanics. Classroom 315 -Today Comfort and ease in class is the aim of every classroom. No more is there that reverherating crash as a seat slides hack into place after a student has risen for recitation. No longer is that passionate search for missing inkwells carried on, for today the inkwells ai'e made fast to the desks. Bleak walls and faded woodwork have given way to hooks. hookcases, or interesting hulletin displays.

Looking Thoughts Lincoln High School 1935 XVe might almost hecome rhapsodic and call the new huildingn the vision splendid. To' clay when we see some heedless suhflireshman ,iliout to carve his name on a polished desk. or clrop a wad of gum on the floors, we are tempted to shake him and to cry, And was it for this we dreamed a dreamff' But a freshman soon learns. and then he too lief comes a, link in that endless Lincoln chain. The Structure Rises The shifting glass ol' time lcts us see once more the ohstreperous arrival of the steam shovel. lets us hear once more the drumming rhythm of thc rivet. and the clamor and the hammering ot' steel upon steel. We ohserye once again the laying of the foundation of that vast structure of glistening stone which had hcen the dream of Lincoln students since the very tirst class entered its doors in lvlfi. The Builder Looked Down As the structure rose as if hy magic. we could hardly helieye that the time was fast approaching when the huilder could writc 'ims to his work. As floor lay floor each section was added. we wondered what. tor instance. third lloor corridor west would look like with only girders to mark its lioundaries. The huilder went all the way to the top one ,lay with a camera ancl looked down .
