Traction splints occupy attention of first aiders. First Aid Artificial respiration is included in the first aid course which is required for graduation. 1 Cravat bandage of the eye, a sling, cravat bandage of the cheek or ear, and a shoulder bandage are applied by class members. Fractured upper arin is cared for Threefman carry is illustrated with strict attention paid to the man giving commands. First aid training, pictured on this page, although of particular importance during a war, is equally valuable in time of peace. It prepares students to meet accidents with cool heads and ready knowledge of the correct thing to do. i221

A clash of cymhalsi The heat of the drum! The youth of America are on the march. All over the nation, in thousands of high schools throughout the land, a great army of hoys and girls called the Victory Corps has been set up. The purpose of this organization is to prepare the youth for allfout participation in the war effort. In Lincoln high school, one hundred and forty pupils have enlisted in the six branches of the corps: Community, sponsored by Miss Ethel Murrayg sea, sponsored by Miss Inez Cook, land, sponsored by E. B. Phillips, air, sponsored hy O. L. Hedrick, prof duction, sponsored by Clarence Evans, and basic, sponsored by Mrs. Mary C. Mapes. Miss Mildred Kemp is director of the Lincoln high Victory Corps. Those who are members have not only parti- cipated in war activities, but also must have accepf table rest and nutrition schedules, must have ref ceived a diploma in First Aid, must have taken physical education and other courses. These war workers, helping in hospitals and on farms, digging victory gardens and wrapping bandages, are in the front lines of thc front that depends on us, the home front. Q53 Victory Corps members roll bandages and perform other duties at the Bryan Memorial and Lincoln General hos' pitals in their aim of community service. i211

Advisor Council H. fl. Marrlis has the authoriry to apply for draft deferment for boys who wish to complete school year hc' fore entering armed forces. Here he counsels Wallace lvlunro. -r David Sell lendf a willing ear to the draft prohlenis of Chester Nlay. This council also had charge of the Army A-ll and Navy V47 tests which most hoys in Lincoln high, 17 years old or older, took. Because ol' thc excellent cooperation of the local draft hoard, the advisory council has not refused a boy asking for deferment. Q. XV. Hackman gives valuahle advice to Robert Millwzr.
