Mokiusoiv, former teacher of industrial arts at Lincoln high school, is a hero from the naval hattle of the Solomon Islands. As a radio man on the aircraft carrier Hornet, he helped remove secret papers from a room in the ship adjacent to a illllfpound unexploded homh. Promoted from Ensign to Lieutenant GJ after the Hornet was sunk, he received from Admiral Halsey, Solomons Naval Chieftain, a citation for werforminff duties heyond the call of service. l s LIELIT, RICZII.-XRD O. Alovriii, '36, was under General James H. Doolittle when Tokyo was homhed in April, 1942. After that, he partieif pated in raids on japanese held territory in China. REAR Amviiaxt AIi'I'lilTR C.-XYLEY Davis, a Lincoln high school graduate, is the youngest Adf miral in the United States Navy. ln the summer of X ' ' ' Mtd l for his 10-+2 he won the Longztssional Navy R a l2Ul work as commander of the aircraft carrier Enterf prise in an engagement off the Solomon Islands on August 2-l, I9-ll, The citation declares that he saved his vessel from excessive damage and inf flicted heavy casualties on attacking enemy planes hy the skillful handling of the ship. MU, GENERAL HARRY C. lxczriis, 'o6, is now deputy commander of U. S. forces in the European theater of operations. In this position, he will unf douhtedly take an active part in the 'isecond front invasion of Europe, if and when it comes. ln the past he has heen on the war department general staff, has heen chief of staff of a large over' seas command, is a graduate of the armv signal school, the command and general staff school and the war college. He was recently awardtd the Simon Bolivar medal for his services in the defens of Columhia. Ls
