Before 8:00 a. m. each day Lincoin high's principal arrives inconspicuousiy. in a moment he is in his office, iiteraiiy piunging into eariy morning misceiiany. Pre-school conferences crowding in, sound system announcements to edit, and then perhaps it's time to preside over an assemhiy, or initiate sophomores into the mysteries of requirements, grades, and extra- curricuiar activities at one of their Weeidy convocations. Thus hegins a characteristic day for ivir. iviardis. Vvhat is the position of a principal? VVhat duties is he expected to perform in any school day? These are questions easier to asic than to answer, for his working hours invoive decisions demanding the executive, psychologist, and educator.
