STUDENT GCDVERNMENT Elected by small groups, by separate classes, or by the school at large . . . competent boys and girls learning leadership through ex- perience . . . cooperating with faculty and administrators to satisfy best the needs of the student body . . . initiating classes for needed instruction in safe driving . . . sponsoring open house twice a year . . . planning and supervising major evening performances . , . serving as ushers and guards . . . doing daily routine work that goes un- noticed but is necessary. STUDENT COUNCIL Bach year Lincoln high is made a more progressive school because ot the work of the student council. lf credit were given where credit is due, the all-student governe ing body chosen by the school at large would come into a more prominent place under the spotflight. However, there are so many little duties which the school has long been accustomed to, such as putting up tardy pennants each week, sponsoring matinee dances, and acting as hall guides, that it is not often realized how many hours of school service are put in by councilites. With the presentation of loy Night in the spring, everyone, though, does get a glimpse of the efficiency and coordination ot the council. lt can truthfully be said that there has never been a poor performance of this traditional variety show. The successful safety campaign this year carrie to a climax with the incorporation of the Tuesday night traffic school. L. Buckley. Bice Metheny, N.
