Art: Thought Plus Emotions in recited Form This year the Art llepartinent brought Lincoln a new and successful pottery class. Although some pottery was done in Creative Cralts. student in- terest demanded an all pottery class with work being done on an individual basis. Another class that was started is an Art Work- shop. This advanced class painted pictures. post- ers, signs, and publicity material lor the clubs at Lincoln. A student satislied his interest in one oi' many classes offered this year. lt may have been molding elay, painting. or sculpturing. Fyom the beginner to the advanced skilled student who sells his prod- ucts to the public, the Lincoln Art Department has been a pleasure to many students. 27 and Dorothy John Yingling, Robert Emerson, and Mick Holt test for electron flow on a cathode-ray tube in Physics. Factors in the Quest for Scientific Knowledge Working with acids and bases in Chemistry are Steve Northover and Richard Norris. The Lincoln Science Department involved all students searching for the mysteries of life. Starting off the science program is Biology. This year a new teacher was added plus a new approach was started. It involved mostly all lab- oratory work. Mr. Drake, the Department head stated, S'This Biology program proved to be very successful and much better than previous years? Any student could tell it was dogfish dissection in Zoology by the aroma in the halls. This class dealt with the study of the structure and functions of animals. Emphasis was placed on dissection. Learning about the structure and function of the human body, Physiology was a semester course dealing with laboratory Work. If a student was lured into the forest it was because of the Forestry classes at Lincoln. While Forestry 2 covered soils, mapping, and the physi- ology of trees and forest, students of Forestry 3 and 4, both taught by Mr. Trier, could be found at the Lincoln tree farm. Here students got actual ex- perience of silviculture of tree farming. Chemistry dealt with the most exciting phase of science: experimentation. Students investigated atoms, molecules, acids, and general changes take place with all substances in our environment. Physics, taught by Mr. Bemish, explored the world of mechanics, optics and waves, electricity and atomic structure in a laboratory situation. Next year, a Ficld Ecology class will be of- fered for students to learn about our cnvironment and what causes pollution.
