With individual interests in mind, the news staff constantly put out papers that tried to rep- resent the entire student body. Several issues con- tained stories about the curriculum here at Lincoln. Students were able, when interviewed, to give their opinions Whether for or against different courses. Other controversial subjects often appeared in the paper concerning todayis youth, drugs, the War, and different city problems. The staff published a special issue to help the millage which was dis- tributed to eight thousand students. Our athletic department and teams were Well covered throughout the year. Besides good Writeups and pictures of the games, individual players were featured on standout performances and overall play- ing. Sixteen members comprised the staff with Larry Maloney as editor and Joe Contris, advisor. Work on the paper was done each day in class and sometimes lasted until nine o'clock at night. All the work that Went into the paper was Worth it as the staff received a First Class Rating for their first semester's work.

18 Computers Increase Whether you were studying the basic 24-2's, looking for training in computers, or calculating logarithms, it was possible to do so in Lincoln's Mathematics Department. There was a variety of courses offered to ful- iill the requirements and needs of each and every math student. A student had the choice to select beginning courses such as general math, Algebra, and Computers. For the advanced student, there were Geometery, Algebra 3-6, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. Lincoln suffered a great loss with the death of Mathematic Department Head, Mrs. Cornelia Lasley. A fine individual, dedicated educator, and outstanding humanitarian, Mrs. Lasley will long be remembered. In her honor a scholarship fund was established to assist an outstanding math stu- dent in furthering his education in the field of mathematics. New Department Head, Mr. Thomas Sedgwick, stated, Our goal is to stimulate creative thinking and abstract design and to give the students the best math foundation as possible in order to live in todayis worldf' Jarvis Cobb studies angles of cone. Interest in Mathematics Trigonometery student Gary Baydo receives help from Nlr. Sedgwick. Chris Whitley and Wayne Eccles use computer key punch machines for problems.
