X. il Lunch hour has usually been an eat-and-run problem for Lincoln High. The kitchen area, while maintaining standards, was inadequate, the faculty scrambled for seating space with students, and all involved cared less about lingering. Then, first changed in 1967-68 was the kitchen area. New, modern, and automatic stainless steel equipment gave the staff tools to turn out 400 hot lunches daily. A portion of the area was partitioned to pro- vide a colorful, quiet, and available area in which faculty could eat. Taped music mufiled the rattle of trays, cups and spoons. The decor spoke for itself. After-school hours dance programs and large group meetings now had a place. Doors were cut at the rear through which tables and chairs could be stored in the stage room. Then, too, in the afternoon small groups or individuals who wanted more quiet than the lounge offered used honor passes to concentrate or study in the new cafeteria.

Several curriculum areas were renovated this year. Highly fundamental changes appeared in the D.E. department with the addition of an enlarged sales area, storage rooms, and a demonstration class-area. The home economics department en- joyed new panelling, closets, and larger work area. Guidance expanded to a separate suite with more counseling areas available to students. And all classrooms were furnished with new desks and cabinets. Most pleasing to many was the change in the Business Education area. Carpeting appeared. We are learning office practices. Why not learn in a real office area? some said. Modern machines were installed in this area to give Lincoln students prac- tice in current vocational trends. Thus in these six pages are indicated some of the ncolorfulv changes of the year 1967-68. To some Abes, however, the most obvious changes will be noted in the student body as seen in the following pages.
