A- ey are terriiicf' QUT sh behind the scene. that certain something that may mean the diiiterence between success and failure. There is where the Lincoinites have always shined. At least in the past. That spirit sent Lincoln's athletic teams out on the field ot competition, helped the music department to raise money tor the grand piano, established the Lincolnian. itis that foundation ot spirit and fight that underlies the successs ot your activities todayf' HYou have something there. tt must have been that traditional spirit that helped i,.incoln send the choir to St. Louis last year.H course. And that is not all. Activities grow with the school. Vvhy do you have a class play every year? Vvhy a prom. a debate team, a band? Partly because ot the enjoyment and instruction they otter, but more because they are traditions. When a new activity is established, a tradition is formed. it the activity is worthy ot it, itis tradition tives on year atter year. These traditions are constantly being created. Vvhenever a student participates in an activity he is tol- iowing a tradition set by someone betore him. And more important still, he is building on that tradition, always strengthening it. tn IOI4. the lirst students started a number of activities, Some have continued and some have died out, but those you have today carry on because ot tradition. Uwe start quite a tew ot our own activities. Just tour years ago, our choir was founded. The all-school plays are very recent. And the traditions ot good fellowship. cooperation, and school spirit, so ably established by students ot former years, constantly surround our activities. nAlways in the background, yet ever-present. these traditions guide and mold our progress through lite. long atter We have iett high school.
