Physical Education Boys-Lessons in theoretical health and hygiene, given one day each week by assigned outlines, library work, and lectures, are practiced in the laboratory environment ot the in- door and outdoor activity program carried on during the remaining tour days. Student leaders are used to help teach sports' tundamentals dur- ing the activity periods and administer an extensive intra-mural program in which ideals ot citizenship are en- couraged. Girls-The purpose ot this depart- ment is to provide such a program at gymnastic exercises, dancing, plays. games, and sports as will develop an individual not only to a higher degree physically, but mentally and spiritu- ally as well. It is the obiect to attain a well-adiusted organism-a con- trolled mind and body which may best meet all situations in lite. l-lealth, strength, and skill are the physical by-products. Library As a source ot intormation there is no better spot in Lincoln l-ligh than the library. Our etticient Librarian, Miss Anderson, takes great pains to keep our library up to date although hampered greatly by lack ot tunds. Our list ot magazines put upon the shelves tor the use ot students and teachers is com- prehensive and attords an opportunity to keep abreast ot the times. It more money could be alloted to the replen- ishing ot our stock at books and magazines all concerned would be greatly benetited. Mathematics X3 t ZXY 't Y21the square ot the unknown quantity in the minds ot the sophomores who pour through the doors at Lincoln l-ligh each September and February. By the time they have become seniors the value ot X and Y have been demonstrated by the help at the mathematics department, to the satistaction at all concerned. The subiects presented in this de- partment are required tor much ot the advanced work, both at high school and at college. A great part ot the toundational education is laid here and the training ot the mind to think is one ot the objectives. Mr. Orr has taithtully served as head ot this sec- tion tor many years. 3
