Swimming I ip- Seniors were D. Sachsenmaier, V. Johnson, J. Grappledinger, C. Diehl, C. Bartch Throughout the stay of the January '58 class at Lincoln the girls' hockey team stayed on top in the Held of champion- ships. Peggy Crompton, Judy Sankey, Gloria Weitzman and Ginny Johnson have spent a good deal of their time and efforts in bringing these titles home to Lincoln and, every autumn, they will surely look back on after-school practices and rugged games. The Mermaids have been another championship capturer in Lincoln's ath- letic field and Jeanne Graebeldinger and Carol Bartsch, of the January, '58, class have been two important factors in this Winning streak. Members of the team have not only shared in these conquests but they have had the opportunity of im- proving their strokes, breathing, and most of all, the teamwork that comes by working together toward the same goal- public high championship. Their cheers have been heard above the din at Lincoln's football and basket- ball games. School spirit is built up when the peppy girls lead the student body in rousing cheers. They participated in the Norristown and lllerchantville cheer- leading contests, consisting of cheerlead- ers from the Delaware Valley area, in which they fared extremely well. To become a cheerleader, the girls had to first try out during lllarch. After being chosen from this primary, they cheered at Lincoln's annual black and gold jam- boree. The varsity girls were then selected from this remaining group by the varsity cheerleaders and Miss Smith. Among the many cheers presented, Ziggity Boom and the Lincoln Loco- motive have been the two favorites a- mong the Lincolnites. Volleyball 99 Seniors J. Calhoun, B. Carrol, R. Tumolo, J. Cook. Manager The bowling team has rolled itself into another championship with the assistance of a few real Keglers like Joan Macrino and Lois Summerfield, members of the 14th graduating class. These girls have helped to keep the public high bowling title within the hallowed walls of Lincoln. Strike,' is the word our pin maids especially have liked, and each playing season they have gone all out to bow1,' over all opposition. Looking back, We're sure to remember the black and gold keg- lers as champs. 5, iff! f r'a if N 'Qi my Lincoln's girls, gym has been the scene of many exciting volleyball games for quite a few seasons. Billie and Jean will long remember tiring hours after school practicing for a big game, rough compe- tition, and the thrill of winning a cham- pionship. Volleyball has been a great game for developing teamwork and good sports- manship.
