Golf Coach Karl Kalman with members of the Golf team Tennis The colorful tennis team placed fifth in the city pub- lic high standings in 1957. The season found Joe Celis coming in at the finish as runner up to the indivi- dual city champion. Coach Brod considers him to be the outstanding high schocil player in the city and hopes that he will win the title in '58. With a score of ten matches won out of four- tecn played, the netmen didn't finish at all badly. It was an important year for our golf team. Our boys, coached by Karl Kalman, placed second in the league. Mr. Minto, an exchange teacher from St. Andrews, Scotland, presented the St. Andrews Trophy to our best golfer in the champion- ship meet. The top three men were Bob Thomas, Frank Hed- ner, and Bruce Drysdale. Seniors on the team were Steve Clyman and Henry Schmidt. Coach Irv. Brod with members of the Tennis team 48

The pinmen, coached by Mr. John Woolson, came extremely close to winning the city championship also. This year saw a new coach, Mr. Wright, and a rise in the hopes for the city title.
