Faculty We wish to express our appreciation to the faculty for the superior men and women who teach at Abraham Lincoln Iligh School. Our teachers have nourished us with the light of knowledge and instilled in us the ever-increasing hunger for it. Wle know that we must ever seek to learn. In a sense, there has been teamwork between the teachers and the students. They have given, and We have received. If we, in return, have given to them, it has been evidenced by our high degree of respect and affection for them. lYe shall always be grateful.

PRINCIPAL Wl1af a piece of work is a man! how noble in reason! how I'l'Lfi7Ilif6 in faculfyf' Charles H. Vllilliams, mentor and friend, has worried over us, looked out for us, loved us. VVhat has come from his heart has gone to ours. TO MY FRIENDS OF THE FOURTEENTH CLASS: In a recent learned address at the lllassachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Hubertus Strughold, who organized the United States Air Force Department of Space llledicine, presented some of the basic differences between the atmosphere in which we live and that with which a ven- ture into outer space will have to deal. Among the hard facts he stressed are these: the availability of oxygen for breathing ends about ten miles above the earthg at twelve miles, atmospheric pressure is reduced to the point at which body fluids boil and evaporate: Ccj twenty-six miles above the earth, the atmosphere no longer screens out intensive cosmic radiation. Qdj at eighty to one hundred miles the diffusion of light by atmospheric particles ceases and CHD Cb? cosmic darkness prevails: one hundred miles above the earth the zone of complete silence is reached, at one hundred and twenty miles, radiation replaces convection and conduction a means of heat transmission: CCD Cf? Team work can, I am certain, solve these and other problems not allied with space travel. But team work is not enough, at least, not enough for you and me. Gangsters have team workg Hitler had team work, Khrushchev has team work which is solving, and will continue to solve, problems of space. On the other hand, churches and synagogues, too, have team work. It seems certain, then, that team work-at least the kind of team work to which this hook is addressed-must rest on a philosophy tempered by the wonder of God. The Creator, who made the universe and all of the complexities therein, also made lllang and endowed him with divine intelligence to solve, for good or ill, for his use or destruction, the complexities of his environment, It is my sincere hope that your school has helped you to learn constructive team work and, there- by, given you, at least, a glimpse of the divine possibilities in working together as you aspire to the stars. Sincerely, - CHAS. H. WILLIAMS, Principal 12
