THE L ,,,,....! JANUARY 1956 F I N A I. E Pese Ted by THE TENTH GRADUATING CLASS ol ABRAHAM LINCCDLN HIGH SCHOOL r n Pliiladelplwia, Pennsylvania 1 For the past few months many people under the sponsorship of Mr Henry Weisberg have been engaged with the serious not too easy job of putting out a yearbook Now that the book is finished and the tension relieved we can all look back on the tremendous amount of fun we had And fun it was The profits of the job were many a feeling of closeness and true unity among all of us, the common sharing of prob ems and worries, and the feeling of satisfaction at what we hope IS a well done job A surge of pride when we look at the yearbook is compensation enough for all our efforts Our faculty and school administration deserve a round of applause for the excellent way they have served as our directors. They have given freely their counsel' they have prompted us when we forgot our cues. It is now' up to us to carry on in such a way that their time, energy, and patience will not have been wasted. We recognize Lincoln as a home for knowledge and a source of numerous opportunities. I hope each of you took full advantage of them. But there should be no looking at the past-it will reflect itself in us in the years to come. We must face the presentg we must prepare for the future, since we are tomorrow. It matters little what plans you have for the futureg it is how' w'ell you carry them out that counts. Act out your part to the fullestg display your individualism with subtlety, but with dignity and pride. The world is your stage. THE LINCOLN LOG LINCOLN LOG The Lincoln Log, usually a four page monthly news- paper written for and by Lincolnites, made its debut shortly after Lincoln's open- ing in February, 1950. Contained in the Log are timely and interesting arti- cles, poems, short stories, and photographs. Editor -in - Chief, since February 1955, has been Sandra Newborg. Past lit- erary advisors were Mr. Ronald Cain, and Mr. Ire- dell Aucott. Succeeding Mr. Aucott is Mrs. Sydell Rabin. Business Advisor is Mr. Nathan VVeiss. - Bottom Row: P. Hollins, V Krafchlck A uayle F Spiegel Top Row Mrs Rabin M Paul P. Murphy, G. Silverman G Essayian, F Baldwin J Lucas M Shilton H Porter S N ewborg. For three consecutive years. the Log has won first place in the Columbia Press Association competition. School papers entered in this contest are judged on the basis of news and sports coverage, writing, editing, make-up, and general use of journalistic principles. Thus, through the years, the Lincoln Log has grown in quality, if not in size. Occasionally there are de- luxe publications. One of these six page editions was the Fifth Anniversary Issue, published in 1955 to com- memorate Lincoln's fifth an- niversary. A short, histori- cal, reminiscent review was presented of five years of life at Lincoln. Twentyffour on-........::'u.6QV 4 MRS. RABIN MR.
