He has a keen interest in and an understanding of our problems gained through first hand experience as a classroom teacher for many years before becoming vice principal. His efforts to help us become better young men and young women will always be appreciated. CHARLES B WEST Our Counselors Mrs Johnson and Mr Byrd our counselors feel very keenly the importance of counseling and guidance They know that our young lives are filled with all kinds of problems and our success in high school and in later life depends on our ability to cope with these problems Such problems as planning and adyusting our pro grams working out social and emotional problems choosing a vocation and selecting a college suitable to our needs and interest receive special attention ANN JOHNSON EDWIN BYRD ' ' 1 9 7 7 I 3 up ' Mi' . Such a record is unprecedented in the annals of league competition. Amid an almost con- stant uproar from a crowd of 1,400 fans, the Lynx beat Van Horn 60-59 on their own court in the last 13 seconds of game time. Victory was hard earned since Lincoln never held the lead until Marshall Williams tossed the 13-seconds shot. In game after game under tremendous pressure from a number of opposing teams, the Lynx battled their way to victory after victory in their bid for a third championship. The history making title did not come by luck. It resulted from hard work, concentrated practice, determination, self-confidence and esprit de corps backed by superior coaching and basketball know how. The Lynx will miss two and three year lettermen like Watson, Bostic, Williams, Gates, S. Henderson, Davis, Harris, T. The Tigers dropped to ninth place in spite of the efforts of Kelsaw, Watson, and Gilbert. Even the Sumner Spartans suffering from five straight defeats at the hands of the Lincoln Tigers beat them 12-0. But all was not lostg we walloped Manual Pile-up at the goal line but Tigers can't score. 27-0 and that is consoling. That is, until we think about the one-sided contests when South- east ambled away with 52 points and Central with 54 and we had 0.
