Guidance counseling assists a student in determining her future plans after graduation. is ,ga In the guidance reading room, a yearbook assists Diane Yelmene in choosing a college. is In preparing for responsibilities Present nine-week problems of democracy classes may be extended to a semester. The social studies department also examined the possi- bility of allowing seniors to select preferred studies rather than requir- ing specific ones. The selection would include economics, sociology, poli- tics, and international relations. Psy- chology students observed pre- school children to determine their progress in motor, language, and social development. They then com- pared this development to the abili- ties of school age children. Further emphasis was placed on technical training this year within the guidance department program. This enabled students to prepare them- selve for the various opportunities available in this work. College Day was changed to Post High School Education Day by the addition of a vocational-technical segment. The STEP and SCAT testing program for juniors was scheduled during teach- ers convention to eliminate interrup- tions in the daily class routine. 29
