Expectation Members of Carillon Club play tower chimes for the graduation ceremony. OIVIIVIENCEIVI ENT exercises for the class of 1967 took place in Lincoln's beautifully decorated bowl. Solemnly we marched down the steps, experiencing a new type of emotion. Our thoughts were being invaded by nostalgic memories of our past experiences: a new youth centerg North-South exchanges: a snowed-out Red-White Day: a champion football team: the exciting basketball gamesi our Junior Prom, Une Soiree Parisi- enne : our senior Homecoming: and the school plays and con- certs. We remember many hours of hard work on term papers. on assignments, and on test-cramming. We also remember the familiar faces of our friends, whom we may never see again. Lincoln has given to each of her students the gift of knowl- edge. No one knows what his future holds. but we know we have been well prepared. The staffs at Lincoln have helped us to develop our talents independently. We have had the use of a school library, useful of doing research and studying. Many stu- dents have had the use of laboratory facilities, in which they learned to investigate problems and form conclusions. Our guidance office has been an aid in helping students solve prob- lems, choose courses, and plan for the future. Our futures have been molded by our individual consump- tion of all offered experiences, both intellectual and social. If we use these basic tools of life we have a better chance of achiev- ing our goals and our ideals. As we walk down the steps on our graduation day, we begin to realize that the completion of high school education helps to insure our futures. And our paths in the world diverged so wide. -Robert Browning has adequately captured the true essence of graduation. 185
