Lincoln Shining Torch of Learning was the chosen theme for the 1959 edition of the Flambeau, The staff selected yar- ious phrases from the Alma Mater to in- troduce the sections of the yearbook, there- by carrying through the theme. The hard work and effort of the 1958 staff and its adviser. Miss Dorothy Crain. was rewarded with a First Class honor rat- ing from the National Scholastic Press as- sociation. The Iflambeau provides the stu- dents with a memory book and a perma- nent record ofthe school year. to Record Talent and Events LERT newspaper editors spent seventh hour writing and checking stories for the school paper, the Hi-Tower Flashes, to l-ceep the school well informed of activities and news. The bi-weekly paper features front page school news. and feature pages including human interest stories, editorials, class news, and humor columns. The student reporters solicit advertising from the local merchants to help meet expenses. The staff met every day during the seventh period. The hard work of the editors and the student reporters was rewarded with a Second Class honor rating from the National Scholastic Press Associa- tion for the first semester of the school year.
