from the 'tee'0ff to the end our golfers are 'wav above Pal' RE! lt was only January and yet some of Lincoln's golfers were out on the greens, rath- er out in the snow, merrily engaged in a game of golf. Practice makes perfect, some one once said, and they were just practicing. Our '46 golf team ended the season with a fifty-fifty average, Winning three and losing three of their six games. Letter Winners of last season were: Robert Breckenridge, Burlyn Steuwe, Elmer Kelly, Martial Ledvina, lack Rutherford, and Donald Langteau. lt took a while for our team to get started this year. The first game was cancelled because of rain and the second because of snow. Our coach for the '47 season was Mr. lohn lung of Washington junior high school. Mr. Frank D Granitz, a new member ot Lincoln's teaching staff, is coaching a sport also new at Lincoln, baseball, That is, baseball hasn't been played iere for twenty-two years. So it's new to us. Sixty-three candidates reported for practice he beginning ot the season. Mr. Granitz said heir attitude was wonderful. Coach Granitz is very interested in baseball. ie has played ever since he can remember, at Jlessmer High School in Milwaukee and on several amateur teams. He was in the army xirtorce for three years, Mr. Granitz attended he University of Wisconsin. During our first Season of baseball We played -ight games.
