our matches are iust UR '46 tennis team coached by Iohn M. V. Stevenson participated in 17 matches win- ning seven ot the nine conference matches and tive ot the eight non-conference matches. Their percentage tor the season was 706. They won second place in the conference meet held here on May 25. Peter Spoentgen took third in the singles division while Robert Skeels and How- ard Stone placed second in the doubles. At the state meet, which was also held on our courts, May 31 and Iune l, our netmen took seventh place as a whole, although Peter Spoentgen was third in the singles. Letter winners ot the '46 season were: Peter Spoentgen, Iames Walsworth, Robert Skeels, Howard Stone, William Sieker, Arthur Walden, William Weinert, Paul Lettenberger, Delmar StI'0keS of genius Hoetiner, George Spoentgen, Robert Nichols, George Swokowski, Joseph Iagodinsky, and Henry Vits. Delmar Hoettner and George Swokowski were our '47 coecaptains. Henry Vits was appointed manager. Henry was kept pretty busy putting the equipment away alter the matches. He missed out on more suppers! Due to a serious illness George was unable to take part in any ot the matches this season. Our team did not enter the state meet this year because it took place at Wauwatosa the same day the conference meet was held here, May 24.
