OME ON. be a sport! We boys at Lincoln can't help being good sports with the program we're offered under the direction of Mr. Gordon Winder. has Besides the regular physical education classes, we have an intramural sports pro- gram consisting of touch football. basketball, checkers. ping-pong, base- ball. and water polo. Courses in junior and senior life saving are also offered. We are members of the Fox River Valley Conference. Our interschol- astic sports are football, basketball, track. tennis, golf, and baseball. Due to the polio ban our football team lost out on some practice but through the able coaching of Mr. Nello Pacetti, assisted by Mr. Al Guepe and Mr. Harold Rasmussen we managed to place fourth in the F. R. V. C. There were a few times when we were disappointed because we lost the game in the last few minutes. but we were' always proud of our team. Bob DeRoche and Alois Luttennan were chosen co-captains for the '46 season. Our basketball team. coached by Mr. Guepe, managed to break the losing streak of last season by defeating Fond du Lac in the first game. We dropped the next five games and to even it up won the following five. The spectacular shot made by Gordon Wotruba on Red-White day in the last second of the game is long to be remembered for it enabled us to defeat Sheboygan North 37-36. We tied for fifth place in the conference. Bob Kustka and Gordon Wotruba were elected co-captains by their team-mates for the '46-'47 season. We girls are active in sports too. for we have the Girls' Athletic associa- tion under the direction of Miss Fran Ritchie and Miss Betty Heyman. We have an opportunity to take part in any of the numerous sports offered and at the end of the year a triangle A13 is awardedto each girl who has earned 500 points and an M to each girl with 1500 points. The G. A. A. also sponsors the Honorary Swimming club. the Officials' club, and the Girls' Tennis club. Sports, games, and parties keep us busy the whole year long. C 21 1
